H & E
Jays POV
The hang up tone dialled on my phone, switching to the lockscreen, a picture of my beautiful children. My gaze focused in on Louis' smiling face. I let out a shakey breathe that I didn't realise I was holding. "Ohh what have you done to yourself this time Boo Bear" I whispered.
I had just recieved that awful piece of news every mother secretly hopes to never hear. Harrys broken voice kept replaying in my brain "Louis, Hospital, Louis, Hospital" I took another shakey breath and grabbed my car keys from the kitchen bench. "Dan! could you please look after the girls for a moment?" I called.
"What's wrong?" he asked. "Louis" I sighed. He gave me a concerned look. "It's okay, I shouldn't be too long" I said trying to break a small smile, "Dinner is in the oven." I knew I had to keep composure, not only for my husband but for the girls. The moment I tell them all that something was wrong the house would be thrown into anarchy, which would only make my situation worse. I quickly headed out the door and began to drive towards the hospital. Towards my baby boy who has got himself into yet another sticky situation. I shoke my head at the memories of constantly going up to Louis old school and digging him out of trouble. That seemed like a million years ago. I wiped a stray tear from my cheek and decided to keep my focus back on the road.
I knew the way to the hospital Harry gave me the address to pretty well. I had filled in a few shifts there when they were short staffed a few years back. I never thought I would be coming back here to see my son though.
The road outside the main entrance to the hospital was very busy. Vans filled with filming equipment lined the road. Cameras flashed, reporters were running everywhere. The whole scene was total chaos, exactly what I didn't need right now. I took a quick left and drove towards the staff car park. I felt this was a quicker option rather than navigating through the madness of screaming paparazzi. I hopped out of the car and headed towards the opposing building which my poor son was lying somewhere within. Without Mum. I should have been heed earlier. I went to reception and asked for the room where Louis Tomlinson was staying. The receptionist was a young thing, only about 23. Stress was very evident on her youthful face, her eyes wide with worry. "Ahhh yes Tomlinson" she squeaked. "Do you have identification? There have been several people coming in here claiming they are his relatives." I handed over my license and she typed something into the computer. After a few awkward but intense moments of keyboard tapping she replies "It's all good, I'll ahhh find his ward number and yea..." The poor girl then began to fumble through a number of papers, her hands shaking wildly. "It's okay sweetheart" I said trying to calm her down. "All the people here, and the paparazzi trying to get in, it's so stressful" she said."So many people depending on me"
"I get what you mean" I replied with a smile.
"Here we go, ward 37..... I'm not sure if your allowed in there yet, there'll be some nurses around to confirm" she said with a grateful smile. But I wasn't feeling so grateful. Not being allowed in to see Louis was definitely a bad sign.
I headed towards ward 37, vaguely remembering the way.
There was yet another desk in ward 37, with another receptionist. She briefly looked up from her computer screen when I walked in. "Tomlinson?" She asked. "Yes" I replied. I hadn't been called Tomlinson for a while. "Natalie said you were coming up, he's still in recovery, the waiting room is over there" she waved towards a room lined with army green chairs. "Thank you" I replied curtly and walked into the waiting room. As I walked in I was relieved so see a familiar boy with curly hair rugged up on a couch, tears running down his face. I approached him carefully, hoping not to scare him. I knelt by his side. "Harry?" I whispered so I wouldn't startle him. "Jay... Jay I'm s- so sorry it's all my fault, everything's my fault.." He said between sobs. "What happened Harry? What's your fault?" He sat up and motioned for me to sit next to him. "We.. We had a big fight and Louis stormed out, the next thing I knew I turn on the tv and a news reporter is saying that he was in a car accident and.. here I am.." He burst into tears. "Nothing is your fault Harry." I soothed "Have you rung the boys yet? your mum?, anyone? Do they know? I asked hoping he had rung them by now. He shook his head in reply. "Ohh Harry" I said wrapping him in a tight hug. "It's going to be alright okay, it will all be alright."
We sat there in silence, bundled up on the uncomfortable, army green chairs in the waiting room, hoping, praying for someone to come out and tell us good news.
But there was a nagging feeling in my mind that the good news just wasn't going to come.
