Liam's POV

The sun seeped through the curtains of the now quite cramped guest room I was in, waking me up with a start. I noticed that I was shareing the guest room at Louis and Harry's (again!) and I was cuddled up in the bed next to Zayn (again!). How did we always manage to end up like this?

I slowly rolled out of bed with military precision, being careful not to wake Zayn up as he was not a morning person. I crept through the room almost tripping over Niall who was curled up in a ball on the floor, sucking his thumb and still in a deep slumber. Hahaha I can't forget this one I whispered under my breathe, taking a quick photo of him on my phone before heading down stairs.

While walking down the stairs I noticed Louis sitting on the couch. Just sitting there, stareing at the blank tv screen. His eyes were cold, his body motionless, only the faint sound of breathing was heard.I approached the couch before hesitantly sitting down next to him. I knew he was upset, I had heard him and Zayn arguing last night. So I sat there, providing him with what little comfort I could. I couldn't begin to understand what he has been through, let alone what he is going through. I didn't even know what to say, which was strange since usually when Louis and I are together you can never stop our mindless chatter. But today we sat in silence. I'm not quite sure if that silence was comfortable, it wasn't awkward but I probably wouldn't use the word comfortable to describe it. It was just silence, blank and rigid and cold.

"Liam?" Louis asked breaking the silence. "Yeah?" I replied. "Do you reckon I need a haircut?

"Ummm..... What?" I asked, slightly stunned by the completely random question. "A whole heap of people on twitter think I need a haircut" he babbled " do you think I need a haircut?"

"Ahhhh...... What?!" I snorted, amused at the stupidity of our conversation compared to the one he had with Zayn last night. "No seriously Li? Is my hair to long?"

"What bought this about?" I said, trying to keep a straight face. "I don't know? You know? Maybe that's why Harry is annoyed at me? Maybe he feels I'm stealing his thunder by having long hair too? Like what if he wants to be the only one with long hair in the band?" he said, truly perplexed at the thought. "Lou I really don't think that's an issue" I replied shaking my head.

"Really?" He asked disbelievingly.

"I think Harry loves you just the way you are"

"Thanks Liam" he replied while playing with his fingers. "For what?" I ask.

"For just being Liam" he said with a smile.

"Okay....." I replied "I'm happy that I've helped then"

Then a loud and unexpected THUD! Echoed through the room.

"Opps..... Sorry" I heard a low voice mumble as a mess of limbs and curls tripped down the staircase.

"You always know how to make an entrance Harold" Louis smirked.

Harry briefly returned the smile before remembering that he was fighting with Louis, turning his face into a deep scowl.

"Morning Harry" I greeted him "Enjoy your trip?"

"That's not funny Liam" he scowled back, heading for the kitchen.

Louis gave me a sad look, which I returned with a concerned one.

He then proceeded to get up off the couch and walk over to the kitchen bench where Harry was.

I could feel tension slice through the room like a knife. A sharp one at that. The two were mumbling something harsh but unintelligible from the room where I was sitting.

Well this was awkward.
