MAINE had ignored whatever came between her and Alden that fateful day. She regarded it as a nightmare. The kiss is sweet just like that kiss she had many years ago, that stolen kiss, but not this one. His lips may be the softest and sweetest she ever tasted but it came from the man that gave her a hell of a ride.
Morning following day at the post, she was cornered by him at a spot nobody could see. He pinned her to the wall and kissed her on the shoulder. His warm breath gave her electrifying goosebumps that she felt for days. She hated him more and she did too.
Then one other time, he blocked her way from the restroom just to tell her to leave the post, she doesn't belong there. She slapped him hard and he just closed his eyes tight and clenched his fist. They exchanged a few more unpleasant words to each other before she felt him pulled back and glanced at her face down to her lips which she also did.
Maine couldn't understand what she's feeling towards the man. He gives off a creepy aura but that's the thing, she doesn't feel fear. She has this weird funny feeling, sort of presentiment, like she sometimes sees a different future about but then when their eyes met, she couldn't pinpoint exactly what his feelings were. Too many emotions but one stood out, anger. And that's what gets her all the time. Why? She needs to avoid him
One morning, Maine woke up so early. She got up, went to her closet and got into her bathroom.
"Yes! Shower time." She doesn't know why today makes her so excited. She knows it will be a very good, good day, wonderful even. How long has it been? One year?
Luisa called her last night, and Big Mike has a plan to celebrate her one year mark at the post. Instead of bringing the party here or at Luisa's they will go back to Slinkee's and celebrate there. She said yes because there's nothing she can do. Luisa and Big Mike tandem, who could say no. They're tag teaming against her. Might as well say yes, no painful argument, she won't win anyway.
She almost screamed her head off when she heard a knock on her bathroom door. She pulled two towels off the towel rack. Threw one on the floor and wrapped herself with the other and slowly picked up the bat from the side of the toilet.
"Who's there?!" She asked, trying to make her voice sound calm, but who would be calm in this situation? No one. And why is she so scared? She's good in hand combat.
She's now thinking if she had locked her door last night as she walked in or she didn't. She can't remember, she was too tired to do other things last night.
They were so busy at the ER since there was this accident right in front of the clinic; one private car, a public utility jeep and a tricycle. The only good thing about last night, there were no serious injuries. It's all minor cuts and bruises and a lot of arguing and yelling between the three drivers, who basically don't know how to give way to anybody. Idiots! Bunch of idiots!
She remembered Luisa laughing at her last night. She got tired of all the yellings, after she found out that there are no allergies in any of the patients, she gave them all some sleeping pills. In a matter of a few minutes, one by one they all fell asleep. One by one they are knocked out. Maine -3; Drivers - 0.
"Maine, it's me, Luisa!" She was able to breathe a sigh of relief, hearing Luisa's voice. She's been so panicky and fidgety this past couple of months. Thanks to a certain fire volunteer who makes her life miserable at the post.
"Oh God, Luisa!" She screamed from inside, then opened the door. Luisa fell in a hissy fit because of how ridiculous she looked, shampoo all over her head, and some on her face. Towel wrapped around her petite body and however long as she could get covered by it.
