Brodie's POV

As far back as I can remember, I always wanted to be in the life. The life being a drug-smuggling, weapons-trading one.

At first, I wanted to join the mafia and that's only because I've watched a bunch of mafia movies. Scarface, the original Scarface, The Godfather, you name it. But Goodfellas, that was the movie that truly made me want to join. I mean, I was so impressed by Goodfellas that I even read the book the movie's based off of called "Wiseguy." I was so blown away by the book that I went back to the library and read all of the mafia books they had. I even went as far as befriending Sunny Atlis, who is one of the very few women involved in the mafia. We quickly became very good business partners, but at a risk. If she got caught selling with me chances are she'd get wacked because you aren't supposed to sell when you're in the mafia. When she told me that, reality kicked in and I would most likely get wacked the first week I joined.

So, I turned away from my mafia fantasy and continued doing what I do best; selling drugs. At first, I sold candy like Party Stix, Pop Rocks, candy cigarettes, Nerds, Skittles, and sometimes Big League Chew all for a dollar. But by the first week of kindergarten, my candy operation grew so big that I needed some help. So, I got my three friends Charlie, Jake and Zoey involved. And when my first year of junior high rolled around, we quickly transitioned to selling drugs. Zoey handled the speed, Jake handled the coke, Charlie handled the H, and I handled the dope and cigarettes.

That first year of selling actual drugs was truly amazing because we didn't have to pretend to be real dealers anymore; we were real dealers. Every high school kid loved us because we were local and sold everything fairly cheap and in mass quantity. We were invited to every party and when we showed up, they let us in for free. When we went to the movies and a fellow teen was working, we weren't charged and could take as many snacks and drinks as we wanted. We had it all. Well, we still have it all, but back then Zoey was still with us and we only sold five drugs to high schoolers. But now, Zoey left us to go live a boring ass normal life and we offer a variety of services. Not only that, but every crack addict and their mom know who we are. It's not a good thing that everyone knows about us though because there are some snitches out there.

Snitches. There seems to be a lot of those these days. It's 1994, you'd think that people would grow a pair and shut the fuck up, but they never do. And you'd really think they'd keep their mouth shut when they find out you have ties to the mafia, but they don't. They seem to snitch more when they find that out, actually. But every time some asshole thinks they're gonna be a fake hero and appear on the 6 o'clock news for being a fucking rat, Sunny and I handle it. Sunny's "associates" always keep their eyes and ears open and if they hear/see anything, they call me and then I call Sunny. Sunny deals with the rat and I deal with the drugs.

And when I turn on the 6 o'clock news the next day, the police have found out that another person has committed suicide.

What a damn shame.

-and just to clear any confusion, Sunny Atlis is one of my characters that is in almost all of my stories. most of my stories revolve around her and her story will be published after this story and this story's sequel-
