Touring With The Vamps

How It All Began

Hi, my name is Ebony Day. I am 21 years old and I upload cover videos onto YouTube. I’ve been a normal girl all my life, well that is until a year ago. Let’s rewind and I will tell you the whole story.

“Done!” I had just finished uploading my cover of Can We Dance by The Vamps. I had heard The Vamps a few times and I was beginning to become a fan so I thought would upload a cover of their first ever song. *DING DING* my phone buzzed which indicated I had a text. I unlocked it and checked my messages. One from my best friend Jaz. ‘Ebs the new cover is amazing! Well done chick.’ I smiled to myself slightly. Jaz had always been my biggest fan and I loved getting those kinds of texts from her.

I decided to go downstairs and make myself a cuppa before I get cracking on some university revision. Flicking on the kettle and grabbing my favourite mug whilst dancing around and singing to myself. I was obviously singing too loudly because as I came back up to my room I had 28 missed calls from Jaz.

My phone rang again and I clicked accept. “EBONY OMFG” Jaz screamed down the phone. I knew it was urgent because one, she was screaming and two she never calls me Ebony. “Jaz breathe! What’s wrong?” I asked trying to calm the crazy girl on the other line down. “I was looking through the comments of your new video and there is one from The Vamps Ebs they want to meet up!” she says extremely fast. I put my phone on loud speaker and checked my YouTube. There it was. A notification saying ‘1 new comment from The Vamps’ “Omfg Jaz they actually saw my video!” I clicked on the comment and couldn’t believe my eyes. It read. ‘Found your cover and you are amazing! We would love to film a cover with you! Email us!’

All I could do was scream. Jaz hung up the phone and headed over to my house to celebrate. After I calmed down, I racked my brain on what to email the boys. This is what I came up with;

Dear the Vamps,

I saw your comment on my latest cover and it said to email you about doing a cover together so that’s what I’m doing. Thank you so much for liking the video I still can’t quite believe it! I have work on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays but other than that I am free x my number is +44123456789

I clicked send before I could change my mind. This was it. I’m going to be meeting up with The Vamps.

That is how my life started to change, it has changed a lot since then but that’s the start of it. Trust me it gets crazier and I will explain that another time!
