Another Selection

Chapter 5 -

*Two weeks later*
I have now been at the palace for about a month now and it feels like home. I have sent letters to my family once in awhile. Next week is the Halloween party. There is still 13 girls left. 6 girls have left. They are Annie Courielle, Kayle Talla, Lana Biusia, Nataia Maple, Aisha Whips and Aissa Ribbon. Oliver and I have been getting even more close and it's amazing. I'm finally off my crutches and back to wearing heels.
I'm on my way to another boring day in the Women's room.
I sit next to Rose who is looking through magazines.
"Hey." I say.
"Hey. Look at this model. She is gorgeous!"
"That's my sister."
"Really?"
"Yup."
"I didn't know your sister was a model. You must be pretty rich."
"Actually no. Lots of the money she makes we donate and only keep what we need. We live in a beat up small house and yeah. My mom said she wants to not be one of those rich snotty people."
"That's amazing."
"Yeah. What did you do before the Selection?" I asked Rose realizing I had no idea.
"I was a waitress."
"Oh."
"Yeah my family owned a restaurant and all of my siblings worked there."
"How many siblings do you have?"
"8."
"Woah. That's a lot."
"Yeah."
"Tell me about them."
She laughed.
"There's me and my twin Rosie we are 17, Ronald 16, Randy 14, Riley 13, Riella 12, Ryan 11, Rachel 10 and the baby Roy 5."
"Can't wait to meet them."
"I miss them like crazy. How about your family?"
"There's me 18, Angel the model 15 and the baby Tommy 6."
"Small family."
"My mom wanted more but it never happened."
"Oh."
I was about to say something but Silvia got everyone to gather around the couch we were sitting on.
"Girls. 3 royal families are coming soon and you guys are planning a party for them. I will split you guys up in 3 groups and assign a royal family to you.
"First group, Lucille, Ashleyn, CeCe, Zoey, and Teah.
"Second group, Mia, Bella, Riylea, Teacup, Jenny.
"Final group, Ariel, Rose and Lily."
We got into our groups as Silvia walked around telling us what royal family we will be doing.
Finally she got to our table.
"Ok, you will be doing the Italian Royal family. You will be going last since you only have 3 girls but you girls are the best. Good luck."
She handed us an envelope with info and walked off.
"Ok. We have to beat the other groups. Oliver is most likely doing a elimination after this and it could be the Elite left." I explained and they all nodded.
"We should each be in charge of certain things then get together and improve." Rose suggested.
"Good idea. There is location, food, flowers, decorations, entertainment, colours, table sets, beverages, clothes."
"I can do location, flowers and colours. Those are things I did at home." Lily suggested.
"That's a good idea. I can do food, beverages and table sets. I worked in a restaurant." Rose said.
"Yes. I can do decorations, entertainment and clothing because that's what I did back home."
We each got info on our part.
I decided we should wear pale-blue dresses with gold accents it is festive but now over the top. I decided on simple but festive decor. I got a band to play some Italian songs and I think it was coming together really good. I started to draw the dresses. I drew three different designs cause we won't want to match completely.
"Guys we should do something so people know we are the hosts." I suggested.
"That's a great idea. But what?" Lily asked.
We all sat there thinking.
"Oh! I got it!" Rose exclaimed.
We leaned in and she told us her idea and it was brilliant.
"That's perfect, Rose!" I squealed.
We decided to have it in the garden because it was fall, the Italians favourite season and they love outside. Since it's pretty warm outside we thought it was appropriate. We were putting out blue and white daisies their festive flowers. For food we decided to have little finger food. We are serving rich wine. The table sets with be blue and gold. It was turning out pretty good.
I walked up to Silvia.
"Silvia when does the Italian family arrive?"
"They come in 4 days. How is your process?"
"Great we have almost everything done."
"I thought you guys would do good."
"Thanks. Do you know anything on Italian culture, history and stuff like that?"
"Yes."
"Could you teach my group some?"
Her face lit up.
"Of course! I'll go get the books. Meet me in the library!"
She quickly walked off and I laughed at her enthusiasm.
"Girls Silvia is teaching is about the Italians."
We all walked to the library where Silvia was setting up for our lesson.
"Ok girls sit down and I'll start your lesson. Feel free to take notes. I'll quiz you later."
We had lesson for about 2 hours until we had to get ready for lunch.
We walked off to our rooms.
"We should learn some Italian." Lily suggested.
"Sono assolutamente d'accordo . Posso insegnare un po '!" I said.
Rose and Lily looked at each other than at me.
"Huh?" Rose asked.
"I said 'I totally agree. I can teach you some!"
"You speak Italian?" Rose asked.
"Yeah. Didn't I tell you guys?"
"No!" They said at the same time.
"Oops!"
We all laughed and walked into our rooms. I was fixing my hair when someone knocked on my door.
"Come in." I said from my bathroom.
I walked out and saw Oliver looking at a picture of my family.
"Hey." I said changing his attention to me instead of the picture.
"Hey. Is this your family?"
"Yup."
"You look like your mom."
"Thanks. Do you need something? Not to be rude or anything."
"Oh right. I was wondering if you would come with me to a more private lunch."
"I was told to never turn you down so I must accept."
"Who told you that?"
"This guy who came to talk to us before the Selection. He said to not turn you down for anything no matter what."
"Oh my."
"Yeah well let's go."
"Of course. It isn't going to be just you and I. It's with my whole family."
"Oh! Really?"
"Yes, there is a surprise for you too."
"What is it?"
"It wouldn't be a surprise if I told you."
"I hate surprises."
"You will love this surprise, my dear."
"I don't really like you at the moment so it better be good." I pouted.
He laughed and we walked to the Great room. I heard laughter coming from there and. I am recognize that laugh anywhere.
"You didn't?" I asked Oliver.
"I did."
I guard quickly opened the door and my family was laughing with Oliver's family. I walked over to Angel and hugged her so tight she couldn't breath.
"Ar-iel...can-t...bre-ath."
I let go and laughed.
"Sorry, but I missed you so much."
"I missed you too, Ariel."
"Ariel. Did you miss me?" A little voice said from behind me.
I spun around to see Tommy standing there in a little suit looking so adorable.
"I missed you so much!" I hugged him and lifted him up into the air.
He giggled.
I put him down and he walked over to Sarah and Amberly. I walked over it where my parents were talking to the Queen and King.
"Mom! Dad!"
"Hi!" My mom said as she have me a huge hug.
"Hey princess!" My dad joked at my old nickname.
"Queen America, King Maxon." I said as I curtsied.
"Please call me America."
"Call me Maxon."
"Alright America, Maxon."
We all laughed.
"Dear you should go to Oliver he looks, lonely." America shooed me away.
I walked over to where Oliver was standing watching our families talk.
"Hey, thanks for this. It means a lot."
"No problem. I didn't want to meet them at the Halloween party for the first time . Don't tell anyone. You're the only girl you gets to see their family."
"Why did you do this, Oliver?"
"I feel like I already know who I want to marry. I don't have any connection with any of the girls here. Except you."
"I love you."
"I love you, too." He kissed me but was interrupted by a bunch if Awws and EWWWs. We pulled away embarrassed.
"You guys are adorable." America squealed.
Angel came running to me and have me a giant hug.
"You're in love!"
I looked at Oliver for help but he looked very amused.
It took a good 3 minutes and 27 seconds to get her off but eventually I did. We all sat around the table. I sat beside Oliver and Olivia.
"So you love my brother?" She asked me with one eyebrow raised.
I laughed slightly.
"Ya, I do."
"Good cause you're the only one I want as I sister-in-law."
We both laughed.
Soon some maids walked in and served us a juicy, tender steak and mashed potatoes.
"So, Ariel. I was wondering if you would want to hang out with me sometime." Olivia said.
"That would be great!"
I looked over to Angel and she was sitting beside Thomas and laughing at one of his jokes.
"I think Thomas and Angel are hitting it off." Olivia whispered in my ear.
"I think so. When I left she told me to talk we up to him."
"Really? Thomas has a stack of magazines with her picture in them on his nightstand!"
"Really?!?"
She nodded.
I looked back at Angel and Thomas and they're talking about something and they laugh again!
After lunch I said goodbye to my family and went to my room.
Someone knocked on my door and walked right in.
"Hey!" Rose said as she hopped onto my bed so gracefully.
"You know I could have been naked or something and you walked right in. Do you know how awkward that would be?"
"You weren't and do you just stroll around naked all the time?"
"Well no, but you know what I mean. Do you need something?"
"Oh ya! Where were you at lunch? The whole royal family was not there either!"
"I wasn't feeling the greatest so I are in my room."
"Oh, ok! Do you wanna work on our project today? We only have 3 more days to finish! They come Wednesday!"
"Oh ya! The other groups present on Tuesday and tomorrow, right?"
"Yup, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Do you ever wonder why the days of the week are called that?"
"No, but I am now! Let's ask Oliver!" I said pulling Rose out of my room.
We walked quickly to Oliver's room.
"Ooolllllivvveeerrr!" I sing into his door.
He creaked it open.
"Yesss?" He asked.
"We have a question for you!!!" Rose exclaimed.
He opened the door for us and we hopped in laughing.
"So what do you energetic girls need answered?"
"Why are the days of the week are called like Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday?" I asked.
"Seriously? That's what you guys think about?"
"Yup! Now do you know?"
"Ok then. And yes I do know. The days of the week are named after planets."
"Oh, that's not cool." I pouted and sat criss-cross applesauce on his floor.
Oliver copied me sitting across from me. We looked into each others eyes. I could stare into his eyes forever.
"Ok, this is awkward. I'm gonna leave. Bye Oliver, bye Ariel." Rose said and walked out.
"Do you want to go for a stroll in the garden, my dear."
"It would be my pleasure, your majesty."
We both stood up and walked outside to the garden.
"I'm really liking the palace. More than I thought I would." I thought out loud.
"I'm glad."
"I wasn't even going to sign up for the selection. But I'm really glad I did."
"I'm glad you did too."
Oliver kissed means we stayed that way for a while.
"I'm REALLY glad I did." I said after we pulled away.
Oliver laughed.
"REBELS!!" A guard yelled.
Oliver and I ran back to the palace but I couldn't run real good because of my heels.
"Oliver!"
He looked back and came and picked me up and ran to the palace. When we were there rebels were running out of the palace.
One rebel came out if the palace holding a crying Amberly.
"Look who we have here, Prince Oliver and Lady Ariel." The rebel said with a evil grin plastered on his filthy face.
"Give us Amberly!" Oliver demanded.
"Then give us Lady Ariel and you get Princess Amberly."
I jumped out of Oliver's arm and ran to the rebel.
"Take me, but leave Amberly alone." I demanded.
The rebel put Amberly on the ground and she ran to Oliver.
"Ariel! Don't go! I need you! I love you!" Oliver yelled at me as the rebel dragged me out.
I looked back and a palace guard was holding him back from running to me.
"I love you too. Don't give up! I'll be back!" I yelled back.
The rebel threw me into the back of a truck and drove for a long time.
*Oliver's POV*
All the rebels left after they kidnapped Ariel. Amberly was crying. I held her close and walked inside. Guards were holding me back so I couldn't go and help Ariel. The rebel attack didn't last long so there's wasn't too much damage. I saw my mom and dad run to me.
"Amberly!" My mom said picking her up from my arms.
"How did you get her?" My dad asked.
"The rebel said he is taking Amberly or Ariel and Ariel ran to the rebel and Amberly was free. I tried to stop her but it was no use." I said as I started to cry.
My mom hugged me.
"It's alright, Oliver. We will do everything to find her."
I nodded. Suddenly the rest if my siblings came they all went to Amberly except Olivia.
"Oliver are you ok? Where is Ariel?"
"She sacrificed herself to save Amberly!" I cried into her shoulder.
"She would make a perfect princess. We will find her."
I nodded.
I walked up to my room and crawled under my blankets and cried. Why Ariel? She perfect. She doesn't deserve this! That night I cried myself to sleep.
The next morning I woke up at around 10:30 I've never slept that log before. I sat up. A maid rushed in carrying a tray of food. She placed it on my table and left. I didn't bother eating or getting out if bed. After lunch my mom came in to see me.
"Oliver, honey I know you miss Ariel and we will find her but you have to tell the other Selected about it. Please they need to know especially Rose, they were best friends."
"They ARE best friends. She is going to come back even if I have to go look for her myself!"
My mom nodded, kissed my head and left.
I laid in my bed until supper. I decided to tell the Selected before the Report, which is tonight. I get dressed and go into the dining room. I sit down in my spot and moe the food on my plate around with my fork.
"Eat something." My mom told me.
"I'm not hungry."
I stood up and the Selected all looked at me.
"After supper will you all meet me in the great room. I have something to announce." I said and left the room.
I walked into the great room and paced in front of the window.
"I'll find you, Ariel. I promise." I whispered.
Soon the Selected filed in and took a seat.
"As you probably all noticed Lady Ariel is not here."
I took a deep breath.
"Yesterday during the Rebel attack one rebel got my sister Amberly." There were gasps everywhere.
"But Lady Ariel sacrificed herself to save Amberly. The rebels have taken Lady Ariel and we are doing everything we can to find her."
Rose burst out crying and Lily tried to comfort her.
"Until we find her I will be postponing the Selection.
"But a few girls are going home soon. I don't want to put anyone's life in danger. The royal families are no longer coming so those projects are no longer happening."
I looked around and everyone's face was shocked. There were ones who were devastated by Ariel going missing like Rose, Lily, Mia, and Bella and most were shocked by the sudden elimination.
