We were inside the classroom. I was just waiting for Ms. Tecson to call my name for the result of our long quiz.
"Ano kaya ang score mo?" Bailey asked.
She sat in on our class because she's close to Ms. Tecson and used to be a big suck-up.
Sana naman maipasa ko na ito. I memorized a few Philosophers and their ideas like Aquinas's concept of natural theology, Metaphysics, Aristotle's Nichomachean Ethics, Hume's Empiricism, and Nietzsche's quotation about love, "There is always some madness in love. But there is always some reason in madness."
"Eri, they've been calling your name for a while now," pukaw sakin ni Brian na seatmate ko.
"She's still thinking because of Hamada!" pang-aasar ni Bailey.
Sinamaan ko naman siya ng tingin.
I walked up to the front. I was nervous because it's already our midterm. I need to catch up. I'm already in front, and Ms. Tecson handed me my test paper. I hesitated to look but as if I had another choice. I folded it afterward and tucked it into my wallet.
Well, I didn't say I memorized and answered all the items, right? Hehe.
"You got 25 out of 50, you still passed it though I am not expecting you to get lower scores because the set of questions was very simple. Take my subject seriously, Miss Tanaka, and please, if you do not know the answer, leave it blank. Don't just fill it with 'Akio' or whoever that is."
"Yes, Miss," I glanced outside and saw Nash! He grinned at me. Behind him was Kio, who also looked at me before walking away.
My goodness! I hope he didn't hear it.
"Good job, Miss Tanaka. You can take your break now."
Sigh. Kung hindi lang ako bobo hindi sana mahirap sakin makapasa
:( kung hinawaan lang ako ni Bailey ng katalinuhan niya edi sana hindi ako napupuyat kakareview.
It's hard being dumb, Eri.
"I wonder what you are thinking right now, it's okay, beshie! Nakapasa ka naman diba? Just make up for it in the finals," she comforted me.
Finally, she said something nice.
"Hai, hai," I just replied.
Lumabas na kami ni Bailey at dumiretso sa Cherry's Cafe. Wala kasing cafeteria ang school namin kaya halos lahat ng students dito nagtatambay.
I looked around to find Kio. Dito kasi sila madalas tumambay ni Cyan (Shan) at ang pinsan kong si Nash.
"Saan ka na naman pupunta?" Bailey asked.
Hindi siya makalapit dahil sa pinsan ko. I don't know what's up with them. They used to be childhood friends. Kaya nakihalubilo na muna siya sa ibang mga classmate namin.
"Parang sumama na naman ang hangin sa paligid. My gosh, I can't breath!"
Breathe kasi yon.
Pagpaparinig ng Oa na si Beatriz. Nilagpasan ko na lang siya.
After getting my order, I went to where they were sitting.
"Hi!" I greeted with a smile. I sat in front of Kio, who seemed to be enjoying his meal now.
Rice and pork adobo. Next time, I'll cook that for him.
"Why are you here?" Nash asked.
"Wanna state the obvious bro? She's only here because of Hamada," Cyan quipped.
"Hi, shokuji o tanoshimu," (enjoy your meal) I said to him.
He looked at me. "Arigato, anata mo ne."
Ngayon lang ako nag lakas-loob ulit lumapit sa kanila. Simula kasi ng bumalik siya, madalas na akong nauubusan ng oxygen sa katawan dahil sa excitement ko. Last week, nasugod pa ako sa clinic kakatakbo ko maabutan si Kio sa school yard. Pinatawag non si Kio kasi siya raw ang binanggit ko habang natutulog.
Usap-usapan sa medical department na ako raw ang nililigawan ni Kio. Hindi ko alam kung kanino nang galing ang chismis na yon. Hindi man lang ako nakapag thank you :>
Akio's kind despite na tinitingala siya ng karamihan. Wala naman siyang wild na mga fans. Ako lang siguro.
He is also a pet lover. Lahat ng picture niya sa instagram ay puro mukha ng aso niya na si Loki at pusa na si Lala.
My Akio Hamada, a walking green flag.
"Don't stare at him, kiss him," Cyan said and teased, laughing.
By the way, Cyan is my closest friend aside from Bailey, Midoki, and KM.
I rarely see Midoki because she studies at a different school. As for KM, she already has her own family.
"Kung pwede lang e," I murmured.
Nash choked on his food.
"Can you just shut up and eat?" my cousin scolded me.
"I'm just kidding." Tumingin naman ako ulit kay Kio.
"Uhm, when are you available?"
"Me, Eri, won't you invite me?" singit ni Cyan.
"Both of you, just shut up."
Nash is annoying, a killjoy.
"Next time Eri, teach me your language so I can keep up," Cyan said to me. I just rolled my eyes and ignored him.
"Stop it, Eri, none of the women in our family pursue and go crazy over men. Fix yourself," Nash intervened again, being a killjoy.
"Are you gay, Nash? That's not in our family either. I'm leaving. Bye." I fixed myself up, but before I left...
"Oh, by the way, Kio, kung free ka bukas..."
Inabot ko naman yung ticket sa musical theatre. Kinuha niya naman at ngumiti.
"arigatou gozaimasu."
Ang formal naman. Parang hindi siya tumira katapat ng Bahay namin!
"You're so cute talaga!"
The crowd cheered, and I could see him blushing. Tinignan ko naman si Nash na mukhang masuka-suka na sa akin.
"Umuwi ka na nga!" reklamo niya.
"Sungit!" nagmadali na ako at hinila na si Bailey palabas.
Bakla na kaya ang pinsan ko?
I just wonder why Nash is being like that. He used to support me when I said I had a crush on Kio back then.
