hey darlings,

i know it has been ages and i'm honestly so sorry to anyone who has been waiting. i always say I'll try to update sooner, but sometimes it's really hard, however it always motivates me to see how many readers i have. I'm super excited to say that this fic has finally reached 500 readers, and although that might not seem a lot to many of you, it is to me. considering this is my first fic and i never thought anyone would really read my work. so thank you so much, i wish i could give you all a hug, but social distancing ya know.

warning: derogatory terms are used in this chapter that some may find offensive. obviously i don't actually think they should be used in real life, but it's just part of this story.

hope you all are staying safe a healthy,

enjoy<3

(it's a bit short but better than nothing)

Louis POV

Today was a new day, I could forget about yesterday. Today I would make it up to Harry, no matter what.

I smiled at the mirror before making my way downstairs. My eyes were visibly red and swollen from all the crying last night, but I didn't think the boys would notice. I slept in Zayn's room, after what happened. We shared cigarettes and stories all night long. It felt good to get Harry off my mind, but he was the only thing on my mind today.

I was going to win him back, he needed a proper explanation, the truth. What happened last night shocked us both, I think. It was totally unlike Harry to snap like that, it was a side of him I had never witnessed before. I kind of liked it though, if I'm being honest.

He was probably just tired yesterday. Today he would understand, and we could go back to being a happy couple again.

The smell of sausages, bacon and eggs filled the air as I made my way downstairs.

Niall, Zayn and Liam were all sitting down at the table eating breakfast, eyes glued to their phones. They were so engrossed they hadn't even heard me.

"Hey lads," I said, coughing lightly, so they would be aware of my presence.

Niall's head shot up from where he was looking down, he looked a bit frightened to see me. He frantically stuffed his mobile into his pocket, Liam did the same, unlike Zayn, who stayed put.

His eyes were still fixated on the screen.

"Is everything alright ?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Yep, everything is wonderfully fine and dandy on this early morning." Niall chuckled. I could hear the tone of his voice was slightly higher than usual, something was off.

I looked over to Zayn, still captivated by his phone. He hadn't even looked up once.

"Watcha' doing there Zayn?" I asked, walking over to him.

He looked up to me, and his eyes widened as I came closer.

"It's nothing!" Liam said, in a not very reassuring tone.

"Yeh, you won't want-" I tried to grab the phone, but Zayn held it behind his back.

"Let me see!" I demanded.

"Lou seriously it's not that important." He panicked, dodging every grab I made. He waved his hands around in front of him to prevent me from taking it.

Why was he being so defensive?

I finally got a hold of the phone, snatching out of Zayn's hands.

"Well if it's not that important then why are you hiding it from me."

"For your own good." Zayn sighed.

I rolled my eyes and started investigating what was so interesting that he couldn't show me.

Twitter was open and I could see the pictures of Eleanor and I were trending.

I raised an eyebrow, confused. Was this what they were hiding. As far as they knew, Eleanor and I were dating. Why would this be a shock to them?

"Ok? I've already seen these, they've been trending for days. I don't see the issue"

"Read the captions doofus," said Niall.

So I did, and it was not what I was expecting.

'Could've sworn Louis from 1D was gay'

'whose gonna tell her?LOL'

'You're telling me he's straight? Not with a fashion sense like that  he ain't!'

'@EleanorJCalder I'm sorry to tell you sweetie but I think your 'boyfriend' is into boys!'

'Wow, Eleanor are you blind or do are you this desperate for attention? Everyone knows @Louis Tomlinson is a faggot'

Into boys.

Gay.

Faggot.

I just stared at the phone, stunned. Tears pickled my eyes. How could they be so mean? What did I do for them to say such things? Horrible things, untrue things!

Did I really come off as gay?

I didn't even know these people, they were just assuming this!

"Louis, we know it's not true-"

"Of course it isn't bloody true! I'm not a faggot! I have a girlfriend for goodness sake! Why does everyone think I'm gay!" I yelled panicking, pacing back and forth.

"Not everyone Lou, we don't think you're gay," Niall said, trying to comfort me.

"I'm not gay! I like girls!"

Lies.

"Yes we know that's what we're saying, it's just these few people think you are gay-"

I shoved fingers in my ears, like a child. I had never been the most mature person when it came to situations like these.

"I'm not bloody gay that's disgusting, why would anyone think that, it's gross! I'm not a fag" a bit hypocritical to be coming out of my mouth.

My breathing started increasing rapidly, I needed to get away from here before anything serious happened.

As I turned around to run up to my room, I saw Harry standing at the bottom of the stairs, silent tears streaming down his expressionless face. His were wide and his lips were parted, but apart from that, his face was blank.

He had heard everything.

Well so much for trying to fix things.

Good job Louis,

good fucking job.
