I guess the Mothman wanting to reproduce would be natural as all species on Earth reproduce to continue the species but this was still stunning. If she were to lay eggs and those eggs would hatch, that would be forty Mothmans. Mothmens? Ignoring how to properly say multiple Mothmans, that would be a lot of giant moths in the world.
"So that's what you're doing. You're trying to make more of you." I had started to talk out loud towards the Mothman. "There isn't another one like you so you've resorted to using small moths." I started walking back towards the front of her. I crouched down in front of her as she finished the jar of juice. "If you have babies then you won't be all alone. You won't be the only one of your kind anymore."
I started feeling sorry for her. She really was the only one of her kind. She was all alone. Maybe because she had a moth brain and not a human brain, she probably didn't care. But realizing that she's by herself, made me feel sympathetic.
I kept talking to her as if she could understood me. "I think I get it. Sometimes I feel alone. Sure I have my parents that love, and sure I have my friends Brian and Lisa, but they aren't like me. They don't find bugs interesting, their favorite food isn't a sandwich, and they aren't called freaks at school for liking creepy critters. But atleast they like me. I just kinda wish other people really understood me."
The Mothman made a small buzzing sound, likely wanting me to give her more food. "All right, all right. I'll give you some beans." I took a can of beans from my backpack and placed it on the ground. I was gonna open it myself but the Mothman just shoved her beak through the lid and started sucking up the beans.
I went back to talking to really just myself at this point. "Luckily for you, you can just make more of you, so you won't be alone. But I can't do that. Atleast I have people who do care for me." I reached out to touch the Mothman's head. "And in time, you'll have other's that are just like you." The Mothman stopped slurping for a moment and looked up at me.
"Do you understand me?" I wasn't ever sure if the Mothman really understood me back then, but she had seemed to recognize what I was feeling, at least I think so. She leaned her head towards my hand and pressed a bit against. Kinda like a dog that wants its head rubbed, but this was a sign of awareness. "Maybe you do understand me."
"Anthony!" From somewhere in the woods someone yelled my name. I stood up. Did someone follow me here? "Anthony! Where are you kid? We're worried about you." The voice from the woods sounded old, old like... It was Kangler, one of the two men who Brian claimed to be the M.I.B. "It's me, Agent Kangler and my partner Jonas. We noticed that you were nervous when you saw us. We thought it was because we were strangers, but then later we saw you bike in the direction of the old munitions area." Kangler said 'we're' which must mean his partner Jonas was also there.
I tired to get the Mothman to leave by pushing her away but she wouldn't move for some reason. I tried talking to her. "Come on Mothy you need to leave, they want you dead!" Kangler spoke again. "Now Anthony, you probably think this creature, this Mothman, is not that dangerous considering it's a moth. However, that thing chased four teenagers while they were in a car at high speed. This creature can fly very fast, so if it were attack people, they wouldn't be able to escape it."
A thought came to my head my head. What if Kangler wanted me to focus on his voice so I'd be distracted for Jonas to sneak up on me? Both Kangler and Jonas might know where exactly I am and are surrounding me. What was I to do? Even if the Mothman flies away if I run the two men could find me by following the sound of the leafs on the ground.
"Now since there's just one giant moth it's not a big issue, but if it were to reproduce there would be a problem. If you know where it is you have to tell us. It's for the sake of the people in our country. Reveal the creature to us for America, Anthony."
Kangler was trying to convince me to give up the Mothman, but that was something I just couldn't do. Maybe he was right. Maybe the Mothman is dangerous, but I don't believe that one bit. If she wanted to eat me she would've done so already.
I looked around, trying find if Jonas was sneaking up on me. The Mothman was behind at the moment. Why bother in trying to find her. For all they know she's the only one of her kind and can't reproduce because of being by herself. She would eventually die from age like all moths do, there's no need to rush that. Then suddenly, something heavy jumped on my back, something wrapping around my waist. I fell to the ground. Was is Jonas, or Kangler? No, I turned my head and it was the Mothman who pinned me to the ground. She had pounced on me and wrapped her multiple legs around me. "What are you doing?" I said in a panicked voice. "Get off of me!"
From what I could see she then spread her wings out. She rose them up in the air and then lowered them down quickly. I felt my head jerk down and could see the ground getting smaller. I could then see all the trees in the forest from above. Suddenly then we were passing over them.
My neck had hurt from the fast movement and it took me a moment to recover. I felt a rush of wind hitting my face, my eyes getting watery. Where were we? What just happened? I then realized while looking at the ground that the Mothman had grabbed me and rose to the sky. We were flying. Oh my god we were flying! This is really happening.
I would think that I feel like a bird but I couldn't because of the Mothman's grasp on me with its legs. We were actually in the air and not only that but we were going very fast. The ground was passing by swiftly and the wind in my face felt immense. Why did she do this? Did she know we were in danger? Likely did, why else would she lift me up in the air. Wait, why did she lift me up? She could've easily just flew away without me. Did she actually about me, or was I just a food source she was protecting? In any case I'm grateful, I didn't want to face those agents.
After a few minutes we went back to the ground. It wasn't the same spot that we took off from but it was one of the bunkers at the TNT area. We landed next to the dome. Well, actually the Mothman dropped me from a few feet than landed herself next to me. I was fine.
That was an experience I never thought would happen. The only time I thought I would be flying was if the Mothman would drop me from a great height to kill me. Guess I was wrong. I looked at her, and she was looking at me. I didn't know what to say after that except, "Thank you."
After everything and giving the rest of the food in my back to the Mothman I walked back to my bike, slowly though just incase Kangler and Jonas were still in the area. Luckily I knew how to get to my bike instead of just guessing which way to go. My bike seemed untouched, good. I then biked back home, still a bit overwhelmed from what just happened.
I got back to town and decided that I would just walk the rest of the way home. I walked along the sidewalk next to a building with my bike by my side. I was still taken aback but I was calming down. Then suddenly I felt my bike leave me, taken away. Before I could form a thought I was pinned towards the building, an arm against my neck. When I focused on what happened it was Kangler with Jonas next to him.
Kangler started talking aggressively. "Listen here kid! If you think you can protect that monster you can't! That thing is dangerous! Something your brat mind couldn't comprehend." I felt my throat close up from being pinned by my neck. It felt hard to breathe properly. "Here's what's gonna happen. Jonas and me are gonna look for that abomination and you are gonna stay home as if you have nothing to do. And if you ever go back to that old munitions place, you will be in a world of hurt. Capeesh?"
I didn't want to say yes but I felt like I was gonna suffocate so I nodded yes. Kangler took his arm away from me and I fell to the ground covering my neck. I could breathe again. This time Jonas spoke. "You better not cause anymore trouble kid. The last thing we want is for a kid to get involved in all of this." Then they walked away.
What was I supposed to do now? Just stay home? I guess that's all I was supposed to do, what I should do. I don' know if the agents would hurt me badly if I went back, but I didn't want to risk it. The only thing I could do now was just stay home, stay in Point Pleasant. At the very least still something different happened. I hope they don't catch her.
