After they finished the poem, they watched a movie while eating some popcorn. Adrien looked at Marinette. Ugh why can't I stop wondering who her speech was for? He thought. I need to find out, but why am I so scared to ask? She's just a friend so it shouldn't matter to me who she likes or not. But yet, it does.
Marinette noticed him staring at her and a blush spread across her face.
"You know staring is rude," she said, a smile playing on her lips. Adrien's cheeks turned a light shade of red. Marinette liked when he blushed because it somehow made him even cuter.
"Um, sorry, I-I guess I was just lost i-in thought," he said scratch the back of his neck.
"It's okay. What were you thinking about?" Marinette asked moving closer to him.
"Um, uh, just you know. Um...." He trailed off. Adrien wasn't sure how to ask her. Marinette found his flusteredness funny and started to laugh
"What?!" Adrien asked afraid he had said something wrong.
"It's just that, usually I'm the one that has trouble talking to you and now your the one not able to speak," she said. Adrien let out a low chuckle.
"Well, I guess I had a good teacher, m'lady" he joked while winking at her. Why did he call her that? That was normally what he called Ladybug.
Marinette rolled her eyes and playfully punched his shoulder.
"Shut up! But seriously, what were you thinking about? I mean, I could tell by your facial expression that it was something your worried about," she said putting a gentle hand on his shoulder. Adrien met her eyes and there he found the courage to ask her.
"Well, I don't think I should worry about it. But what I was thinking about was your speech and who it was for," he said. Marinette froze for a second, unsure of what to say. He doesn't know that it was about him, she thought. Well, no time like the present to tell him
"I'm sorry, you don't have to tell me if you don't want to," he said looking away.
"No, don't be sorry. The person that it's about deserves to know."
"Huh?" He asked looking at her with an eyebrow raised.
"Adrien, it was about you. That's what I was trying to tell you before there was a loud bang." Marinette was blushing hard now. Adrien had his mouth slightly open in shock and she looked away. Then she felt an arm wrap around her waist and pull her close to him.
"It's okay, I promise. If it means anything I really liked it, but I can't lie to you," he said hanging his head.
"What do you mean?"
"I can't lie to you because your my friend and I like someone else," he said. That sounds like something I said Chat Noir once, Marinette thought.
"Oh, um, okay," she said disappointed that he didn't feel the same towards her.
"I'm sorry. I know how you feel though," he said as she looked up at him. "I had told the girl of my dreams that I liked her and she told me the exact same thing about how it would be lying."
"Oh I am so sorry. Who was it?" Marinette asked, her curiosity growing.
"Um, well, if I tell you do you promise to not laugh or tell anyone else?" He asked. She nodded waiting for him to continue. "Okay, um, i-it was Ladybug."
Marinette froze. Ladybug?! As in her? Wait a second, she thought. Chat Noir was the only person she had said that to when he told her that he liked her.
Does that mean? She looked at Adrien half smiled at her. She studied his eyes and tried to picture a black mask on him.
"Chat Noir?" She questioned.
"What did you say?" He asked. Marinette thought about it for a minute and then smirked at him.
"Nothing," she said quickly and acted like she was hiding something.
"No tell me please," he begged.
"Curiosity killed the cat, you know."
"Yes, but satisfaction brought it back."
"I knew it!" She exclaimed. Adrien looked at her confused. "It all makes sense now. I had said the 'I don't want to lie to you' thing to Chat Noir when he said he liked me. Then you said that the love of your life had said the exact same thing to you and you also called m'lady which, if I might add, Chat Noir calls Ladybug all the time. Your Chat Noir."
Adrien stood up and looked at Marinette in shock. She figured out that he was Chat Noir. He couldn't believe it.
He wanted to try to deny it and cover it up, but he knew she had too much proof and would win in the end.
"Okay, fine I am Chat Noir, but you must promise to never tell anyone! Please?" He begged.
"I promise."
"Okay good," he said. Then he thought back to what she had said and it hit him. She had said that she had told Chat Noir about there being someone else, but he hadn't really talked to Marinette as Chat Noir. Unless Marinette was Ladybug. Also not many people knew that Chat Noir called Ladybug "m'lady". "Marinette, can I ask you something?"
Marinette nodded in response.
"Are you Ladybug? If you are please don't deny it."
