A short note before this begins, there will be death involved. It won't be gore, but it will have detail. I felt like I had to put a warning for the innocent.

~·Soot's POV·~

There is a rumor that's going around the forest. Supposedly, Jaggedpeak wants to leave the forest. I am so lost. Of course I'm not the only one that's confused. Actually, most don't even believe it. After all, it is just a rumor. And plus, if he really did want to leave, he wouldn't have shouted all those things at us. As I am thinking about why in the world Jaggedpeak would change his mind so suddenly, my sister Luna pads into our 'camp'. She's carrying a mouse in her mouth and looks very pleased with herself. "I have returned my lord with an offering!" She declares proudly. "Why thank you my warrior. I shall be sure to repay you." I respond. Luna laughs and bounds into our shelter. This shelter I speak of is just a hollowed out bush. Let me tell you, it took forever to hollow out that one bush. I still find remnants of leaves suck in my fur. I look at the mouse my sister gave me and feel the hunger in my stomach trying to claw its way out. I take a bite. The mouse, although it looked skinny and frail, tasted wonderful. Before I knew it, the only thing left was scraps. I sighed knowing now I was going to have to go hunt for my sister. "Luna, I'm going out to get food! Don't die, okay!" I had to wait a moment before I heard a tired "okay!" I got up and padded slowly into the trees. My sister is way better at hunting than me. While she's a black pelt, I'm an orange pelt. Good luck blending in with an orange pelt. I walked past the familiar trees, hoping to catch a glimpse of something, but nothing came. I walked and walked and walked. I had past the same tree 3 times now and had seen nor caught anything. I was going to have to resort to looking into the grass. Surrounding the outside of the forest, there is grass. It seems to stretch on forever, but nobody really knows. My paws ache, but I had said I would repay Luna, so here I am. I'm walking in the direction of the tall grass, when I hear grumbling. Who ever is doing that sounds mad. Like, Jaggedpeak mad. I stop walking and stay in my place, hoping that they would just walk past me. Unfortunately for me, they notice me. Luckily for me, it's just Icedrop. His light grey pelt reflected the patches of sunlight, making it look brighter. "You know, instead of just standing still you could've crouched to hide yourself better." I scoffed. "You still would have seen me because of my pelt." He thought for a moment and then nodded his head to confirm this fact. They walked in silence before Icedrop spoke up. "So... Hows your day so far..." I hesitated before I responded. "My day has been interesting. How about yours? Seen anything, oh I don't know, suspicious?" He looked at me with a confused face. "Why would I have seen anything suspicious? Have you...?" I have just realized at this point my mistake. "Oh no! No no no no! I was just wondering because of Jaggedpeak. Its just so odd that just yesterday he was telling us not to leave and now he does. Heck, he even called me out for it!" Icedrop nods knowingly. "Yeah. It is odd..." We have reached the end of the forest and look out onto the endless field. "Well, happy hunting!" And with that, he was gone. It was nice talking to someone other than my sibling for a change. I stalked off into the grasslands.

(Time skippy because I can't think of what else to write)

I was close to camp when I literally ran into Luna. She looked panicked. "What? Whats wrong? Did someone attack you? Are you hurt? Is there a storm coming? Are-" she cut me off. "I'm fine, but the forest isn't. Lightbreeze says she saw the humans destroying more of the forest. A lot more of the forest." She looked terrified. "Their not going to get here. If they do destroy the whole forest, I won't let them take you again." You see, the reason why Luna is so terrified is because we use to live with the humans, collar and all. They one day decided they weren't going to live there anymore and left. More specifically, left us behind. We stayed for a few days before we left. We never saw if they ever returned. I picked up my forgotten crow and walked her back to camp. She was still nervous even after I gave her the food that took ages to get. I gave her one last comforting look before going into the bush to sleep because boy did my paws hurt.
