"Fuck," I mumbled under my breath, clenching onto my viola and my book bag. We had a two hour delay, because of the freezing rain which resolved in the most slippery roads ever. But, as the moron I am, I wear a pullover to school. You, as a normal civilized person may think that's normal.

Until, I tell you it was 20 degrees and down pouring.

Now do you think I'm normal? If you said no, well, I agree. I'm as normal as a camouflage unicorn who obsesses over One Direction and eats cheap sugar cookies from Walmart all day.

If you said yes, then haha very funny; I know your lying.

Well now your probably wondering who the hell I am. Good question, you see, I don't know. But, the name my mom gave me is Ashton Fletcher Irwin if that counts as self identification.

If you couldn't yet tell from my views on life I, am a loner. And the thing is, I'm not like many other loners; at first people wanted to be friends with me. Haha I know right very funny. But, it's true and let me explain before you already ditch me.

~

So, it all started freshman year, I was new to New York, moving in with my dad, decided to start on a clean slate and move across the world from my hometown. Even though my best friend Oli (1.1) and all of my family lived there the place brought back too many painful memories I would like to erase from my head.

Any-who at first, the kids of New York welcomed me. They came up to me in the halls, asking if I can sit with them at lunch, or simply to hang out.

When they approached I got so nervous. I didn't know it was in me. Whenever a meet a stranger I feel 100% confident that we were going to be best friends, but then I say something stupid or stutter out illiterate mumbles, causing them to walk away and pretend I never existed.

I thought I've tried every person in the school until one day, about a week (1.2) after I joined the school. My English teacher gave us assigned seats. My seat was moved and across me sat this girl.

"Hi! I'm Laila! Aren't you that kid from Australia?"

"Uh..yeah....I-I'm Ashton." I stuttered.

"Oh my goodness your accent is life,"

Well actually my voice sounds like crap.

"Thanks.."

"So do you want to talk." This girl questioned me.

"Sure." I said starting the friendship I would cherish and despise of for the rest of my high school years.

"Hey Ashy," said Laila walking into the diner.

"Hey Lay."

Now, we have been friends for about a month, learning more and more about each other. Our hang out spot is the diner, a minute away from her house.

"My," said the waitress who had just come to our table said "What a lovely couple you are."

"Thanks," said my friend blushing.

We ordered our cheesecakes ( since this diner has the best cheesecake in all of existence ) , ate and, talked.

As soon as the check came, I pulled out a $10 bill and handed it to the waitress.

"Awe! Ashy you didn't need to pay for me!" She said kissing my cheek.

Blushing and smiling I replied "Uh, bitch you paid last."

"Whatever," she rolled her eyes and walked out of the diner.

~

When we got home we had a movie marathon, bombarded with the amount of popcorn and snacks we ate.

When I woke up the next morning, she wasn't there. I looked on the coffee table to see a note that read:

'Hey Ashy, my mom called and asked me to babysit Kat. Go buy yourself something pretty.

-Lay x'

Oh son of a bitch she paid me back.

But I couldn't ask for a better best friend.
