You woke up, feeling the rays from the morning sunrise hit your eyes. Strands of light poured into your hotel room. You layed in bed for a minute looking at your room; the way the light poured from the outside onto the hotel bed sheets and furniture. 'I won't be able to enjoy mornings like this for a long time' you thought to yourself. You let out a deep sigh as you sat up and stretched your arms. As you got up, your bare feet touched the cold ground, sending a subtle shiver down your spine. You looked at the small clock on your bedside table; it was barely 7:30 am. You weren't usually a morning person, but lately you had been waking up earlier just to enjoy the sunrises. It was because 2 days from now you would be taking the biggest step of your life. You would be joining the first order to become a pilot. You didn't know what compelled you to make such a decision, but you felt you needed to take this path in your life. Maybe you needed purpose in life, or maybe you wanted a stable job so you could provide for your mother. You weren't joining for politics, and you really couldn't care less about the resistance or First Order, it was just to be different and make something of yourself. You didn't want to end up like the rest of your friends; turning to spice running or having boring merchant jobs just to make ends meet. So here you were, sitting in the padded nook space next to the window admiring the tangerine orange sunrise...counting down your days and appreciating all that you had. You were young, yet so determined to be someone.
"Rise and shine, time to get out there and grind" your friend Cara said as she walked in your room yawning. She looked just as tired and dissolved as you were; you both had been going out non stop these last 4 days. She sat down on the other side of the padded nook, looking out the window with you.
"You know, I am really glad you talked me into doing this with you." You said turning your focus away from the window and onto her. You tilted your head to the position where it was resting on the window. You gave her a "thank you I love you so much, best friend" smile. Cara laughed.
"Of course!" She said playfully pushing your feet off the padded seat. "What kind of bestie would I be if I let you join the world's most BORING job without a farewell trip! We're on fucking Naboo?! This place is so fucking nice and relaxing. Trust me, in 2 years you're going to be like, "you know what, thank you Cara for taking me on the best trip in my life before I sold my soul to this soul crushing job" and I'll say I told you so... you're welcome." You both laughed. You got up and started heading over to the dresser, looking through the drawers; preparing an outfit to wear on your last day out. Tomorrow morning you would have to head back to your home planet to report to be shipped out for training.
"Oh come on, it won't be THAT boring. I'm going to train to be a pilot, that's pretty badass to me..don't you say." You said turned around and blasted finger guns in her direction. She got up from her part of the sofa like seat and walked out of your bedroom into hers. You could hear her talk louder from the other room.
"Of course being a pilot isn't boring. Like, can you imagine, my best friend being a pilot!? I'm going to brag about you for the rest of my life, but then again, you're going to be a pilot for the first order!". She said. Even from the other room you could hear her rolling her eyes. Cara walked back into your room with two dresses in her hand. "It's the first order. You know everyone who joins them basically has no life, also which one should I choose." She held up both dresses. One was a flowy light, thin fabric white dress that had sleeves that would lay on the shoulders and the length of the dress stopped about mid thigh. The other, was a long flowy flower patterned dress with a aqua background. The length of the dress was long and it had two thin straps holding it up at the shoulders.
"The white one, and also you know why I'm doing this." You started, then gave each other a look only 2 best friends with a hive mind would give each other. You both knew it was because you didn't want to end up like everyone else you grew up with. Running spice or joining gangs wasn't what you wanted. That chapter of your life was over...you just wanted to BE someone; you wanted to DO something. She walked over and gave you a tight hug, letting out a slow sigh.
