Meeting the future

I makes his way down the long corridor with Tori by his side. I feels the first drop of sweat run down my forehead. I clench my hands into fist feeling how clammy they were. Tori knew I was nervous, even though I tried to hide it.

Hey, it's gonna be okay." She says, placing her hand on my shoulder trying to comfort me.

I know it's just what if I'm not what they think I am?" I say trying not to show her my real fears.

What if I don't wanna leave? What if I wanna stay with you Tori?" I think to myself.

I see the two light blue double doors with the word "Meeting" over it.

Ready kiddo?" She says looking at me making sure I look fine.

To late to turn back now." I say with a smile. She slides her key card abd the doors open. I hear laughter and chatter.

The post men are swerving around serving drinks and some food. One if the men hand me a nicely decorated envelope with my name on it.

Go on open it." Tori says. Go meet your family." I open the envelope and unfold the the white paper. In bold black lettering it's.

" Table 320 ".

The same post man that gave me my letter escorts me and Tori to the table. When I see the table. I begin to feel nervous again. A man with his wife and son.

Tori pats my back. Finally we make it to the table. I look around the room it's decorated as a fall fantasy land.

Even better." I say under my breath. Tori hits me in the arm.

What?!" I say quietly so the people dont hear me.

I look under the table at my phone. I scroll through my messages. Tori snatches my phone and puts it in her lap.

Their son was sitting right next to me. He taps my shoulder. I turn around.

Yeah?" I ask.

You know if you are bored with us just say I dont need a baby brother." he says smirking.

I don't respond I turn back around and face tori. The microphone comes on and the president of the unit begins to talk.

Todays is the day, these young men and women are going to meet their familys. They will live life in a world where everthing you need is but a foot away. Now I will Announce the Bryads." As he goes down the tables he ask us to off our abilties.

He makes it to my best friend Dakota Manning.

Dakota stands up and waves to everbody before he walks onto the stage.

Go ahead sir." He says. Dakota stood on the stage and focus then his body begin shift, when he was a done shifting he was a wolf he ran off the stage to his family.

He nuzzled each one of them. I smile for him cause he's gonna have a great life. They keep going, then they finally get to me.

Go lace." Tori says smiling. I walk to the steps of the stairs and walk up them onto the stage.

Go ahead." he says. I begin taking off my jacket. I drop it on the floor next to me. I undo my buttons and plop my shirt beside me. I concentrate on it. I feel it rising inside me.

Then My 20 foot black grey wings jump out of my shoulders. People gasp and cheer. I look at my soon to be brother.

He was sitting down amazed.

I look at our president he nods gestuing my spotlight is gone. I slide off the stage with my unbuttoned shirt on. He speaks about the catorgories of people here as I button up my shirt.

Then we have our Hilo's." He says as the spotlight shines on me. Lace is our only Hilo here, He is very speacial to me and my scientist." I smile at him.

He keeps going on about why I'm so amazing my abilities. Finally he finishes. Let the metting Begin!" he says as he steps off the stage.

I turn back to my table and to my family. Hello Im Jane this is my husband Joey and this is our son Alec. She seemed so cheerful to see me, Her husband smiled He seemd happy too.

Their son gives me a fake smile. I roll my eyes and turn back to Jane and joey.

So what are we gonna do?" I Ask.

Well, What do you wanna do?" She ask.

Anything." I say. There is the snow room I like it there."
