Squidwards pov:

I yawned, slowly dragging myself into the bathroom to take a shower. I itched the back of my neck and waited for the water to heat up. The comfortable silence was broken as usual by my infuriating neighbour, Sponge Bob. His name felt like sandpaper against my skin. His laugh echoed through my house like an alarm, shaking my head I looked out the window glaring.
"Another beautiful day isn't it Squidward?!" The sponge screamed up at me with his disgustingly cheerful smile. I rolled my eyes and shook my head, he's never going to change, is he? I shut the curtains so I wouldn't have to look at him anymore and swiftly jumped into the shower. The downpour of warm water and soap suds did it's best to drown out his yells but nothing ever works.
Once I was clean I shuffled out and began to brush my teeth while I dried off. No time to dry properly, or my boss would hang me for being late. Putting on a brown tshirt and a humiliating sailor hat I ran out the door.

It was another miserable work day at the worst establishment in bikini bottom, the Krusty Krab.
I groaned as I slinked into my work booth and opened up the cash register to make sure there was change to give to the lard bombs that ate at this place.

"Heyyy buddy... are you ready for another fantastic day working at the best restaurant in the whole of bikini bottom!?" Sponge bob squealed from behind me. I groaned and rubbed my still sleepy eyes. "Will you PLEASE stop shouting into my ears you're going to make me and everyone else in this restaurant deaf." I replied back to him. Like this place counts as a restaurant, I sneered to myself afterwards. He just giggled and halfheartedly apologised before retreating back into his station.

"You chimps stop bickering and start making me money" Mr Krabs yelled from his office.
I rolled my eyes again and opened a magazine.

Thirty minutes passed and the Krusty krab was once again bustling with customers. All ravenous and heavy.

"Your order has been placed sir, you'll have to wait just like all the other customers" I sighed disinterested and turned the page of my magazine, squid weekly.
I could hear the fish scoff and stomp away, followed by some quieter steps of the next customer coming forward.

"Hello welcome to Krusty burger," I began, sighing disinterestedly, "may I take your order?".

"Hello! Yes!" A feminine voice called out.

I turned another page, half listening.

"Sorry, I'm new I just moved here to see family so I don't know what to get haha! So many options, y'know?" The customer droned on.

"That's nice, please order something soon there's other customers" I replied with a monotone voice.

"Oh gosh sorry haha! I'm Y/N, btw. Gosh everyone has just been so welcoming here, do you have family here?" She continued to pester.

I ground my teeth impatiently, "Ma'am, can I take your order or not?" I snapped, looking up at her scowling. I was a little take aback at what I saw.

She was.. human! And very hurt by the looks of things.

"I'm sorry.. Spongebob didnt tell me you were this rude!" She spat back.

"Is that y/n I hear?"
Speak of the devil.

Spongebob peaked his head out from the order window excitedly.
"It is!!" He squealed

"Hey spongebob! Sorry I'm kinda taking up the whole line here.." she said back to her original attitude.

"That's perfectly alright! Go sit down, I'll make you something special on the house!" Spongebob grinned waving her away.
"That's coming out of your pay check boy!" Me Krabs yelled from his office again. Cheapskate.

The girl giggled and nodded politely, "looking forward to it." As she turned to leave she took one last look at my embarrassingly shocked face. "It was nice meeting you." She said coldly.

"I.." I began, feeling bad. Wait... no I have no reason to be apologetic! I shook my head and tried going back to my usual bored self, but I couldn't get her e/c eyes out of my head.

The day went back to normal after that, for the most part. I looked out at the setting sun and locked up the register once more. I threw off my hat and headed for the door. I looked back instinctively, expecting a bubbly sponge to come and tackle me, telling me how good his day was, but it seemed as though I was the last one here. I turned back and pondered of where he could have been, not that I wasn't happy. Then I remembered the girl from earlier. She knew him somehow..

I shook my head again, it really doesn't matter! I walked out the restaurant and locked it. She was quite pretty even for a non-squid... I thought suddenly. I gasped and slapped the side of my head, I did not just think that! What has gotten into me today..

I made it home and went to unlock the door when I heard a familiar voice chime out, I turned my head to see y/n leaving Soongebobs house. I froze when I saw her. She was wearing a white summer dress that flowed in the ocean air like a fancy jellyfish, with the cardigan she was wearing earlier tied around her waist.

Y/n... the girl that took my breath away.

She waved off sponge bob and began walking from his house until she spotted me, stood frozen in place blankly staring at her.

She looked at me with the cutest perplexed look, or was it disgust...? I snapped out of my paralysis when I finally realised how creepy I was being. My face transitioned into a deep maroon as I scurried into my house and swiftly shut the door behind me. I clutched onto my beating heart and gasped for air. I have definitely made the worst first impression.
