The Contractor (Episode 9)

Harley's Pov.

When we reached the Western Border, we have to part ways with Alucard.

"Where are you going?" Harith asked.

"What, are you scared?" Alucard teased.

"No! I'm just asking." Harith rolled his eyes.

"I'm sure sir Alucard have some other place he should be guarding incase of demons." I informed Harith.

"You're really smart. I'm sure the both of you can do the quest." Alucard said as he ruffled my hair.

"Don't touch the hair!"

We rode another carriage. Alucard already paid gold.

"How many hours till we get there?" I asked the man who own the carriage.

"I'm afraid young man that I cannot accompany you to the maze." He replied.

"What do you mean?" Harith suddenly asked. "But we paid you!"

"You misunderstand. The maze is a sacred place protected by contractors. Though, there is only one contractor left that still protects the Maze. So I can't accompany you to the maze." He explained.

"But I'm asking about time.." I mumbled.

"It will take 3 hours until I drop you two. Then you walk for a kilometer until you approach the maze." He answered.

"Ok.."

Hours have passed and it was so hot.

"Did you bring any water?" Harith asked.

"Yes." I answered.

"Young mages, I will drop you both here. Just walk toward that direction and you will approach the maze." The man pointed toward the west.

"So it's towards the west?" I asked.

"Just walk towards west and I'm sure you'll reach your destination." He answered. "Whatever fate have for you both, I wish you good luck." He added.

We walked for an hour and we immediately saw two statues. With a gate between and a man guarding it.

"That's the last contractor right?" Harith whispered.

"I think so." I answered.

We walked closely to the contractor, hoping he is on our side.

"Hmm.. You're looking a little lost." He said as he looked towards us.

"We're not!" Harith answered.

"Sir, we are here for the Twilight Orb." I informed.

"From the Magic Academy." Harith added.

"I always fulfill my contracts. I can't let you both enter." He answered.

"But, the force of darkness will come here. We must go in immediately." I argued.

"If you really wanna enter, stop talking. Words are meaningless! Now talk with your fist!" He said as his fist become molten rock, and went towards us.

"Watch out!" Harith dashed as hold me.

"Looks like talking wont work." I told Harith.

"Give up kids, you won't defeat me." He said as he continued coming at us.

I tried to cut him with my cards, but his body was too tough.

"My fist are unflinching!" He taunt as he came to us again, we barely escaped.

"Harith!" I signaled. He just replied with a nod. Already knew what the plan is.

When the contractor tried to punch us, we both dashed and went for the entrance. He was startled to come for us.

"Heh, you kids, Abandon hope! There are many guardians made by the gods inside the maze." He informed as he gave up catching us.

"We did it!" I said to Harith.

"Now we just have to find the orb and we finished this quest!." Harith said.

But so many guardians approached us as the entrance of the labyrinth shut close.

"There are too much!" Harith whispered.

"They've surround us." I added.

"Feel the fires of rage! Hiyeahh" A creature jumped towards the creeps. Completely stunning them.

"Come on kids, this is your chance to live!" He told us as he quickly walk away.

"Come on!" Harith said as he ran.

"He is.. A Minotaur?" I mumbled as I went with Harith.
