David and Yang were now on a bullhead back to beacon with a few shopping bags and were sitting in a content silence. Dave had a small smile on his face thanks to the discovery of his fathers survival and Yang also had a small smile seeing him genuinely happy. The old former sergeant had informed him that his uniform will be ready tomorrow, while in town tomorrow he was also going to go to patch and see his father again for the first time after his "death." The two hunters in training stepped off the bullhead together and began walking back to their shared room. While in David's happy thoughts, he didn't see Yang text the team on the flight back. Walking through the hallway back to their room, they saw the odd person walking past, each gave a varied look to the pair most likely what was seen at the beginning of the day. Yang smirked when that would happen and Dave would either completely ignore it, roll his eyes or if it was someone he didn't like, he would stare them down as he stalked past. One thing Yang noticed was that David's dead stare had returned to him after stepping off the bullhead, she only sighed at his antics.

I finally opened the door to the team room and placed my bag of clothes down next to the rest of my stuff. I saw the team all doing usual things to past time, Blake was reading a book on her bed, Ruby was playing a game on her scroll and Weiss was studying at a desk. But one thing I noticed was that once seeing me and Yang walk through the doors, Weiss dropped her pen and looked at us with a stern face, Ruby put down her scroll and sat on the edge of her bed nervous and Blake, the most inconspicuous, looked up from her book at me then Yang then nodded before going back to her book. I heard the door close behind me and looked back to Yang who had now crossed her arms and looked serious. I stepped toward the center of the room and looked at each of them. "Alright, cut the shit, what's going on?" I asked with no bullshit.

Yang sighed, back to his usual self. "Listen Dave, we all know you've got something bad going on." She began but before she could continue, Dave began speaking. "Nah, I'm perfectly fine." He said with a frown creasing his face. Weiss spoke up then. "Oh please, we all know you're having nightmares and you didn't even get any sleep one night this week." She said in her high and mighty attitude. Recon remained silent. "Not to mention your over aggressiveness or cold clipped attitude in class and to others in general." Blake said while glancing up from her book. In a feeble attempt to defend his actions, he responded. "I was trained to be aggressive in combat and shout loud when responding to superiors." He said. Yang shook her head. "What about your cold clipped attitude? You weren't trained to act like that were you?" She asked rhetorically. He remained silent again. She sighed and dropped her arms from their crossed position and moved to sit down on Weiss' unattended bed and gestured to the spot next to her. He slowly sat next to her but with a straight back and a look of being attacked on his face. "Look we're trying to help you here man, none of us apart from me and Ruby know where you're from and we barely know anything about what happened to you back there." She explained to him while resting her elbows on her knees and looking at him. He stared directly forward with a frown on his face. Blake had put her book down and was now sitting across from him and Yang with Ruby hopping down from her bunk sitting next to her and the same from Weiss from her desk. "Why are you doing this?" He asked. This time Ruby spoke up. "Remember those times you said to me about trusting your teammates? How can we trust you without knowing anything about you or any of your problems? We could help you." All eyes were on him now. There was a long moment of silence between all of them before Recon sighed and with great reluctance spoke. "What do you want to know?" He got out between gritted teeth. They didn't really want to know anything but Yang used this to her advantage to try and get him to open up. "Well you could start by explaining where you're from." She said happy that she could turn this into the way she wants it to go. He sighed again before he began explaining everything to Blake and Weiss, to say the least were shocked to find out the truth and were also sworn to confidentiality. "What else do you wanna know?" He asked putting on an uncaring exterior but on the inside it was turmoil. "Well could you explain about the war you fought in there?" Yang asked next. Dave's jaw tightened then relaxed before speaking. "In the last one hundred and twenty years, there has been three world wars and countless others. The most recent being the third of these world wars." He explained through gritted teeth. He then took out his phone and pulled up a picture of a map of earth and all its countries. "At the end of World War Two, Russia was a communist country. Communism is a political ideology that goes something along the lines of: everything belongs to  the state and the people get paid fairly no matter what job you're doing. It sounds really good, except the only people who benefit from it are the people in power. Now at the end of the war, it wanted to spread communism throughout other countries, China was one of them and they had a commie revolt there at the end of the war." Recon explained while making sure everyone was following. "Fast forward to present day and Russia has turned into a democratic country and sorta minded their own business for awhile. China, still communist, had done some stuff behind the curtain with Vietnam and had put in a more communist government then there already was and had begun preparing their military and was funding them." He explained while pointing out the different countries on the map. "Wait, wait, wait. I thought you said China was the only communist country." Interrupted Yang. He sighed again. "One of the countless wars I mentioned earlier was the Vietnam war where Vietnam had adopted a communist ideology." He explained. The girls nodded in understanding. "Okay so China is prepping itself and its allies for war. They started with classic tactics like bullying other small countries and annexing them which gained the ire of other nearby countries who started mobilising their military and other countries around the world like the USA, Australia, New Zealand and a bunch of European countries. World War Three officially begun when Chinese and North Korean forces quickly overwhelmed and annexed South Korea. Now was the time when America began mobilising their military and drafts began. China and now "Greater Korea" had declared war on Japan here and China and Vietnam had now declared war on India. During my training, China and Korea took Japan and had got about halfway into India, India was fighting hard now and they had a huge military. Before ours and the Americans navy could engage, Korea and China had begun an invasion of these island nations north of Australia. These countries had a military that could barely compare to China and most were quickly annexed, but the Chinese found more and more difficulties as they advanced further south on the islands. During this time, we had troops deployed to these islands and our "cadet draftees" we were called were acting as a military police and were doing extreme extensive training which would help us a lot but we would still suffer many casualties. China finally broke through and had begun its invasion of Australia while the navy was locked in battle in the Pacific Ocean. Now our support was in Australia, us, New Zealand and US marines. In India, they received support from European countries like Britain, Germany, France and I think even Poland. Last I heard Canada, north of America had split its army to fight in India as well as in Africa after African countries began invading each other. That's also where the US Army went." He paused before getting even more carried away and saw the girls all trying to process the information. "Oh my god, it sounds terrible." Said Weiss with a shocked look on her face, the others shared her sentiment. A sadistic smile crept on his face. "It gets even better." He drawled out sarcastically. "Russia, then decides its the perfect time to "take back lost land" and invaded Ukraine, a bunch of Slavic European countries and then the Middle East for all that sweet, sweet oil. And that's about as far as I know so far before I "died" so something else could've happened by now." The soldier finished and all the girls around him look horrified. They could all see a strange gleam in his eye like he enjoyed it all. "So, anything else you wanna know?" He asked sounding unnaturally calm compared to his rigid and unspeaking behaviour earlier. "U-um, Ye-yeah, you said that you had to get permission to join and had to agree to it. Why did you?" Asked Ruby nervously. I nodded. "Well, there's a few answers to that, my brother was joining and my dad was re-enlisting, we have a history of soldiers in our family, I always wanted to be a soldier, I always wanted to honour my warrior history and spirit and I wanted to preserve my way of living and live under the flag I choose not one forced upon me... and I was tired of being a bitch." He explained all of his reasons for joining. I got a laugh out of them at that. "Any other questions?" He asked. Weiss paused before asking. "What, was it like on deployment? When you were fighting other people?" She asked.
