I was at the bar hanging with Arlene watching René play pool with Hoyt, who was losing big time.
"Damn! You suck, René." He said as he continued to lose.
"Quiet you." René said and I high fived him.
"I cannot believe I am here on my night off. Just pourin' my hard earned money back into Sam Merlotte's pocket." Arlene said as she poured everyone another beer from the pitcher.
"I'll split the bill with you." I told her as I took a drink.
"What happened to my brother, René?" Sookie stormed over to us.
"Ahhh, ah hell! I promised him I wasn't going to tell you."
"What do you mean? What happened to Jason?" I asked and looked at the guys.
"Oh uh, well, ah Bud Dearborne and Andy Bellefleur, uh, they asked him some questions, and then they just threw him in the back of the squad car." Hoyt said.
"So you don't even know for a fact that they arrested him?" Sookie asked.
"Well they ... they didn't cuff him or nothin'." René said.
"Girls, I am so sorry." Arlene said to us.
"For what?! Y'all are already actin' like Jason's been convicted of killin' Maudette, and we don't even know what they were talkin' to him about. Bud Dearborne just made a mistake! That's all." Sookie said.
"Jason's not smart enough to kill someone and sure as hell doesn't have the personality to hid it." I told them.
"Yeah, yeah it has to be, because Jason's a real stand-up guy." Hoyt said.
"No, he's not, Hoyt. He is selfish, egotistical, and a complete horn-dog, but he is not a killer!" Sookie may have been too much at the moment. Given the fact that everyone was borderline drunk here. I felt the familiar chill down my back and noticed Bill, the vampire Sookie met the night before, came in.
"Welp. On that note I think I'm gonna go."
"You don't wanna watch me win anymore?" René asked me as I grabbed my things.
"No actually I should go. Bill gives me a weird vibe and I don't like it."
"Can't say I blame you. Were you goin?"
"I don't know. I was thinking of checking out that vampire bar back in Shreveport again."
"Why you gonna go hang out with vamps?"
"I went with Dawn and felt something weird."
"Eve were you high?" Arlene asked me and I laughed.
"No I swear. I just wanna see if it was a one time thing or if it's there again."
"Be carful girl, you're too sweet to get eaten by a vampire." Arlene hugged me and I laughed.
"If I feel like I'm in danger I will leave right away."
~o~
I walked up to the door and went to grab my ID.
"Go ahead." I looked up at blonde woman in front of me. I went to say something when she cut me off. "I don't forget a pretty face. Go on a head." I smirked at her.
"I like you. What's your name?"
"Pam. What about you? Do you go by Evangeline?"
"Evie mostly. Name's really long."
"I can understand that feeling. Enjoy your night." She gave me a small smile and I walked in.
I felt a number of different waves yet not the ones I was looking for. I looked at the stage and saw nobody there. So it defiantly was that guy. I went to the bar and saw the same vampire who was bartending last time.
