"So, I turn into a baby and I get to live in this new world you created?" I asked.
"A new fresh start." The five beings stood in front of me.
They wore interesting garments and had extravagant hair and styles. I hesitated.
"There's no catch?" I stood before them.
"Well, there is one thing." One of the beings hesitated.
"I knew it." I groaned.
"It's not a giant request. We simply wish to turn you into a certain creature." They smiled.
"Um, what creature?" I paused. "I kind of like my human form. There are humans, right?"
"There are. Although they are primitive. The world is only 200 years old. We wish to turn you into a goblin." Finally, one of them said it.
"A goblin?" I stopped. "The nasty tiny little creatures?"
"Yea."
"Why?" I was incredibly frustrated.
"We would prefer balance in this world; however, the goblin species is simply falling too far behind. They will be driven to extinction in a matter of fifty years, give or take."
"What do you want me to do? Couldn't you just, spawn, in goblins?" I protested.
"Even if we do, the goblins will simply die out again." One of the gods yawned.
"Then just spawn them!"
"Creating takes a lot of energy. We can't just spawn them endlessly. However, if they can survive without us then we can rest easy."
"What's in it for me?"
"You can start a new life." A female god cheerfully mentioned. I sensed sarcasm.
"I don't want to as a goblin."
"We can force you." A god raised his eyebrow.
"Then I won't do anything to help them."
"Very well, I will grant you three perks. I can give you a familiar of high intelligence. A skill of rare findings. And you may choose your destination." A new god spoke, emerging form the blinding white light behind me. He stood taller than all of them and was the only one to have a beard.
"Uh, yea sure. Wait." I stepped back startled. "I get to choose?"
"Yes."
"Can I see my options?" I swallowed hard. I felt something form this god that none of the others had.
"Of course."
A giant row of creatures appeared before me. I could touch them all and feel their warm breath. I stopped before a strange animal. It's dark green coloration on top seemed to shimmer like much like actual water and the light underbelly was a pale beige color with the same effect. It possessed a lean body with the physique of a long salamander. However, it was much slimmer and looked much more agile. Its front limbs were like a lizard and two times longer than the back legs. It rested it knuckles on the ground and reared up. Its neck was long and snapped forward its jaws, teeth flashing. It possessed a wing-like structure on the front two limbs and spread them out, the performance impressive. The tail whipped forward, and spines flashed, and I stepped back and braced myself for the blow when the god intervened and raised a hand. The tail stopped midair and fell to the ground.
