I put away my bow-gun and drew my sword. I realized that I was ill-equipped to fight a bear. However, I had Maeora with me. She launched into a flurry of attacks against the Bear, tail whipping against the eyes and nose. My weapon was designed to fight against weapons. Not wild savage beasts. I sighed. I would need to act quickly. I activated began to attack, my blade opening many wounds and cutting the flesh of the beast. The brown fur was now splayed with blood. The bear was now blind and incapable of smelling thanks to Maeora's whip-like tail and venom. I quickly preformed Lethal Strike and the bear finally died. I was unable to use the bear for anything other than food since goblins weren't welcome in villages and other monsters were quick to try and devour us.
"I told you. I smelled the smoke. See the light?" A loud voice grunted.
"Fine. You were right." Another man spat.
Maeora was gone in a flash and I quickly melted back into the shadows of the forest, at the edge of the clearing. The men appeared. It was a party of three large burly looking men. They dragged with them a tied halfing. They looked around.
"Look at this! This was freshly killed!" One of the men exclaimed.
"This must've been the screams and shouts we heard. Where'd the hunter go?" They sat down.
"Think he's still around?"
"Might be. Don't think he'll mind if we take a bite, will he?" They smiled as the ripped pieces of flesh from the bear and tossed it onto the spit.
"Who says it's a he? Look at the cuts on this bear. It's a light weapon which must mean a girl."
"Then we should wait and give him a proper welcome, don't you think?" They snickered. I gritted my teeth. I activated Conceal and climbed up a tree twenty yards away from the nearest man and prepared an arrow.
"Wait a second. Do you guys feel strange?" One of them asked.
"Now that you mention it. I feel a bit sluggish."
I grinned. It was the venom. I aimed down sights. Should I let them go or should I kill them. I was once human too. But what about the halfling? She hasn't moved at all. I waited.
"Ah, hell. I'm a bit tired. Let's camp here for the night and make towards the town tomorrow. We can dump her body along the way. Meanwhile, I want to have some fun." One of the men dragged her over and laughed. "She's a ripe one! Pity we can't bring you to town."
I snarled and fired. The arrow pierced his temple and tuck there, instantly killing him. The other two men jumped up, however, they moved slowly due to the venom. The halfling dropped to the ground and I shot another one of the men through the heart. The last tried to run but tripped. The halfling quickly pushed him into the fire. I was shocked and very startled. She has some nerve after all. She was also dangerous.
"You can come out. You saved me." She called out. I hesitated. I was a goblin. I pulled up my cowl so that it would hide my face and climbed down and entered the clearing.
"Is the bear meat poisoned?" She asked. "Those brutes seemed much weaker after eating it."
"Yes. There is a small amount of paralyzing venom in the meat. The boar is fresh of venom and edible without negative effects." I answered.
"Thank you for saving me. They are very rough, to but it at best." She smiled.
"It was no problem." I answered.
"Do you have a name? I'm Drosi." She smiled and held out her hand. I paused. I didn't have a name since coming into this world.
"I'm afraid I don't have a name." I laughed and ignored her hand.
