Chapter Three:
(Quick author's note: I will be using the abbreviation (pre pro), which stands for preferred pronoun so you can decide which pronoun you want to use! have fun reading!)
Mark's P.O.V.
Crap it's really late...I need to go to bed...
You throw back your head and let out a loud yawn as you walk across your living room.
This is what I get for staying up late recording!
You almost reach the stairs when you hear a gentle knock come from the front door.
That's odd...who would be up this late at night?
You walk over to the door and look through the peephole to see a teenage (pre pro) staring at the door with hope in (pre pro) eyes; but as the seconds pass by, it slowly starts to fade away and (pre pro) starts to turn away from the door. You open the door and (pre pro) hears it open and turns around to look at you.
Why would (pre pro) be up this late on a school night?
(pre pro) squints (pre pro) eyes as though trying to see you so you step out of the doorway. (pre pro) eyes open in shock.
Hmm...There's only one reason why people have looked at me like that when they see me.
You smile at (pre pro).
"Hello! How may I help you?" you ask with a cheerful voice.
(pre pro) stands there in silence for a few seconds before blurting out a thank you. You chuckle lightly.
Well that answers my question. (pre pro)'s a fan. But I should ask before I start assuming things.
"This is a first. Are you a fan?" you ask.
(pre pro) nods and seems to still be in shock.
I guess I would be shocked too if something like this happened to me.
"I'm really sorry to be bothering you this late at night..." (pre pro) says quietly.
"It's ok! I was up anyway. I generally stay up this late because I'm recording! What can I do to help you out?" you ask.
Sleep can wait. This is more important.
"I'm lost and have no idea how to get home. This is what I get for going on a walk so late at night. Plus it doesn't help that I moved here a week ago so I don't have any idea what the layout of the city is."
"This is an interesting time to take a walk! Why so late at night though? You ask with curiosity.
I know I definitely wouldn't want to go on a walk this late at night!
"I just wanted to get out of the house" (pre pro) replies quickly.
You fold your arms and lean against the doorway.
"What happened at your house that made you go on a walk so late at night?"
(pre pro) bites (pre pro) lip and looks down at the ground.
"Well to put it simply, my dad and stepmom don't exactly get along all too well..."
"Oh..." you almost whisper.
Now I understand.
"I'm sorry."
(pre pro) shrugs. "It's no big deal. I'm used to it."
"How can someone get used to something like that?"
"It takes a long time but I usually drown it out so its fine," (pre pro) rubs (pre pro) eyes and coughs."Anyway, I really need to get home soon because I have school tomorrow and have to wake up really early. Can you help?"
"Of course!" you say while pushing off the doorway and flashing a smile."Just tell me what your address is and I can drive you there. I don't want you walking home alone this late at night."
(pre pro) eyes widen in surprise.
"You don't need to do that! I just need directions. That's all! I don't want to make this inconvenient for you!" (pre pro) says quickly.
"Don't worry about it! Just let me go grab my keys and I'll get you home safe and sound." you say to (pre pro) while starting to back up into your apartment.
"Thank you Mark!" (pre pro) blurts out before you enter your apartment room.
You turn back to (pre pro) and smile at (pre pro) again.
"It's no problem. Would you like to come in and sit down for a bit?" you ask (pre pro).
(pre pro) nods and walks into your apartment and spots the spiraling staircase. (pre pro) points at it.
"That's an awesome staircase you got there."
"Thanks! Sometimes I hate it though. Especially when I'm half -asleep and trying to walk down the stairs. Let's just say that I've gotten hurt once or twice because of it."
"I never thought that a staircase would defeat the mighty Markiplier," (pre pro) says while laughing.
You ruffle your hair and chuckle.
(pre pro)'s pretty hilarious.
"I guess even someone as cool as me can be defeated by stairs. You can sit down on the couch over there. Just push off any crap that's on it. I'll be right back."
You head over to the staircase and quickly walk up them and enter your bedroom. You search for your keys for a minute before realizing that you left it downstairs on the kitchen counter. You walk out of your bedroom and down the stairs to see (pre pro) asleep on the couch.
Well crap.
You walk down the stairs and approach the couch. You lay a hand on (pre pro's) shoulder and gently shake it.
