Gulf had surprisingly never slept more soundly that he did in his new room. It was strange that he would've gotten so quickly used to his new environment. There was an almost sense of familiarity about it which he found comforting so much so that he had nearly forgotten that he was wedded to a complete stranger and that he was supposed to be up an hour ago!
Gulf hurriedly put on some decent clothing he'd pulled off the shelf, brushed his teeth as quickly as he could and rushed downstairs, not forgetting his work bag which he'd grabbed off hastily at the last minute. Gulf was outright panicking right now. He was so screwed and he was certain Mr Johnson wouldn't be pleased. After all, his boss wasn't the nicest person to begin with. He recalled that one time he had brought in their coffee late, and was given an earful by Mr Johnson in front of his colleagues who could only feel embarrassed for him.
"Oh Mr Kanawut, you're up. Have some breakfast." The housekeeper gestured as he saw Gulf speeding down the stairs, looking disheveled.
"Aish sorry Mr Woody, I am running kinda late for work." Gulf responded, as he put on his shoes swiftly by the doorway. He was in such a rush that he hadn't noticed a hearty breakfast spread prepared for him, among which was one of his favorites - hashbrowns. Upon seeing the disappointed look on the housekeeper, Mr Woody's face, Gulf shot him an apologetic smile, "I'll have them when I am back from work!"
"We can give you a lift-" But before Mr Woody couldn't finish his sentence, Gulf was already out of the house. Mr Woody shook his head, as he watched the latter sprint clumsily to the nearest bus stop and a soft sigh escaped his lips. "Aiyah what a pity. Mr Suppasit even specially ordered the hashbrowns for you, knowing it was your favorite!"

Gulf was a mess right now. His shirt was unbuttoned and creased, hair uncombed and he even had some toothpaste foam on the corner of his lips. Oh God, he could really hit himself right now. He was surely going to be the office's laughing stock for the week at least! But Gulf, while worried, had no time to fuss over trivial matters like these at the moment. His goal right now is to get to work ASAP and pray that Mr Johnson would miraculously be lenient enough to let him go just this once.
He stepped into the office with a trembling heart. Geez he could already feel the judging stares of his coworkers as they scrutinised him from head to toe, while he walked past them. Gulf gulped nervously as he pressed for the elevator frantically. Why was the freaking elevator taking so long?
Finally, after what seemed like forever, the elevator had arrived and Gulf went in quickly. Thank God it wasn't crowded. Upon reaching his office, he was already thinking of all the possible reasons to justify why he was late - he was hoping at least one of them would be able to convince his boss to let him keep the job.
When he entered the office, immediately there was a pin-drop silence. He was usually insignificant so nobody really cared if he was present or not, in fact some probably didn't even know he existed since they only remember him when they needed him. After a polite knock on the door, Gulf entered Mr Johnson's office. His boss didn't say anything, but Gulf didn't wait for his lecture to begin before he started blubbering.
"Mr Johnson, I am so sorry. I didn't mean to oversleep! I know it was a huge mistake on my part but I swear it was unintentional. There has just been a lot going on lately and I'm kinda out of it. Please don't fire me because I really need the job, I still got a rent due this month and I'm already way behind in payment. I would do anything if you'd allow me to keep the job. I-I can do overtime if you want, no problem." Gulf was pretty much rapping and he was breathless by the time he was done with his apology speech.
