"That's it! We're full for tonight! Come back tommorow and try again!"
A guy, twenty-three discouragly turns away from the shelter he'd intended to lodge in tonight. Try again tommorow... He was always hearing this sentiment, but no matter how early he tried to arrive, he was always too late.
He zips up his coat, ill-prepared for the terribly cold winter night. Tall, handsome, with beautiful green eyes, he often wondered how much money he could make if--
Honk!
It was probably something like eleven o'clock when the silver BMW with the tinted windows pulled up in front of Shayne Caito Bello. He watched in suspcion as one window rolled down and a woman with dull grey eyes looked at him.
"Come here," she ordered him. He looked around, seeing the deserted streets of St. Louis and approached.
"When was the last time you ate, huh?" she immediately questioned. His first instinct is to deny it. He wasn't "homeless" but rather "inbetween living-spaces." It wasn't like he couldn't go home, but rather wasn't trying to go home.
"When was the last time you were warm? Had a safe place to lay your head?" the woman persisted.
"Yesterday," he lied. Two months ago.
"I can give you that if you're feeling risky," she inticed.
He pondered this for a moment. It was December in St.Louis at the temputure had already dropped five degrees during this conversation. Currently, snow was dusting the streets and it was suppose to get below freezing tonight. In truth, without proper shelter he might die tonight.
"Hello? Do you speak?"
The words finally form a cohesive thought and he spoke it,"Who are you?"
She gave him the once over, liking what she saw.
"Your guardian angel. Now get in."
