Picture of Grace on the side >>>>>>

---------------------

I sighed and laid back on my dorm room bed rethinking of all the good times I had had this past year. Christmas was right around the corner and couldn't wait to fly back home to California to meet my family. Don't get me wrong- we are a well to do family who loves each other very much. I know what you're thinking-

If she lives in California, then she must be one of those typical Cali beach girls, right?

Wrong. I mean, that's like saying that if you live in Texas, then you automatically had a ranch with ten horses and all your brothers are cowboys. It just doesn't work that way.

"Penny for your thoughts, Lily?" Grace said as she walked into the room, spying me on my bed, staring at the ceiling. She was my best friend since high school, and we have literally been nothing less than sisters to each other ever since. Grace had wavy, brown hair, while I had straight, black hair, but we were both from outside the US, we both loved school and studying, and we were both fangirls. She knew about how I wished to mob every movie director who had butchered a book while making its movie, and I knew about how she was struggling to wait for the next Sherlock season. We were both a little crazy, but I loved it. I wouldn't trade her in for anyone else.

I sat up and smiled. "This year," I said. "It's gone so fast. Can you believe it's the end of our senior year of college?"

Grace plopped down on the cot next to mine. "I know," she sighed. "In five months, I'll be going back home, and we are finally going to go our separate ways."

She offered a sad smile, but then I spoke up. "Hell to the no, girl! I'm always going to be in your life. Whether you go to law school or not. Grace honey, you're not getting rid of me that easily," I told her, topping it off with a wink. She giggled. "Plus," I added, "I'm expecting to be that special girl who will make innuendo jokes at your wedding."

Grace groaned, but she smiled. "Darling, I think you mean 'Maid of Honor'. Can't have you scaring away my future in-laws on that day, now can I?"

"I'm sure David won't mind," I added with a chuckle, noticing how the sparkle in her eyes shone.

"Do you think he'll ask soon? He hasn't even introduced me to his parents yet." This was a side of Grace that only I knew. The sweet, insecure, innocent part of her that wished for a fairy-tale ending. When we had begun high-school, we started out as young, school-girls who had wished for a Prince Charming. As we reached college, I had begun to realize that my Prince would never come for me, never ask me to marry him because he loved me. My dreams were shattered one day as my parents demanded that I would marry a man that they had chosen. Grace, however, had never lost this dream, and I was determined that it should come through, for her.

"Grace Lydia Jeremy," I said seriously. "David is so in love with you that I'm sure that he is going to ask you. The only thing left to do now is to wait. My thoughts are that he might ask you after you both are done with school, you with Law, him with Engineering."

Seeing Grace satisfied with that answer, I got up from the bed and went to the dorm closet to gather my clothes. "Enough girl talk. Time to pack for Christmas Break."
