have any of you noticed that I'm becoming slightly used to putting smiley faces in my notes???????

.........................................................

Art soon came to the table, a neutral expression drawn on his face. I was about to confront him when Chiron pounded his hoof for our attention.

"To the gods!" he called.

"To the gods!" we echoed.

Dionysus stood up, doing the usual: rolling his eyes every time a camper laid eyes on him for more than five seconds. "Well, you brats, looks like we have a couple of announcements today," he drawled. "First off, I'd like to announce that the canoe races will be postponed this Friday." Dionysus said nonchalantly. "Second, Luke Castleton--"

"Castellan." the Hermes cabin corrected.

"Same banana. Now be quiet and let me finish," Dionysus snapped. "Luke Castleton is now the counselor for the Hermes cabin. Go ahead and cheer for him." I smiled and cheered along with the rest of the campers.

Then Dionysus raises his eyebrows at the cheering campers and the surprised Luke, who was evidently trying to absorb the shock. He was grinning widely. Luke winked at me happily once he caught my eye.

"Yes, yes, now all you brats are happy. Whoopee. And now, for one of my personal favorite news." Dionysus smiled unsympathetically. "I'm afraid that one of our beloved campers, Art Braeon, will be leaving Camp Half-Blood."

As expected, the campers' smiles faded almost quickly. My heart almost stopped beating. So Tammi was right. Art was going to leave.

I wanted  to kick the grape god. I didn't pay attention anymore. All I caught was "Art.............speech?...no...............you?"

Then suddenly Malcolm was shaking me. "Annabeth!" I snapped out of my stupor. "What?! I asked in annoyance, determined to enjoy my grief. "Annabeth, we gotta get up! Art's missing, and he hasn't even left the camp!"

The entire world seemed to stop revolving. I sat there, still as a stone.

Then Luke approached me cautiously. "Hey, Annabeth," he said. "Hi, Luke." I replied remorsefully. "I know it's grating on you at a really bad time. But....." he took a deep breath. "Some things have just got to go."

I sighed. "Yeah. I think so."

I don't understand. Why did Luke say that? Was he implying that one of my favorite brothers just couldn't stick around?

That's it.

I want a quest.

need a quest.

Was that what Luke had meant?

I'm not really sure, either. He was never the same after the Garden of Hesperides.....

But one thing is what I need right now, and I have to have it sooner or later.

A quest.

B O O M  SEE HOW I GOT RID OF ART LIKE THAT?? VERY PROFESSIONAL
