Derek's POV
The unsub was caught and confessed right away. I drove back to the hotel expecting to spend the evening with Reid. I got there and he wasn't there. I order take out and tried to wait up for him but sadly fell asleep.
4:36 AM the next morning
I jolted awake thinking that Reid was there. OK now I was starting to worry. I called and woke up the team searching for where he is. Apparently nobody has seen him since I dropped him off at the station. We put a bolo out on his car and got an immediate response.
"Apparently an officer on patrol found his car on route to the chase. " Hotch said. We all got in our rental cars at the same time, but I got there first. His SUV looked normal from the outside, but inside it was a bloody mess. His messenger bag was covered in blood. Oddly enough there was no body in the car.
For the next two week the team spends endless hours searching for Reid, unsuccessfully. Hotch called Derek into his makeshift office.
"Morgan its time to face the facts. I'm pronouncing Spencer Reid officially dead. His funeral will be arranged for tomorrow."
The next day
I'm standing before Reid's empty grave trying to stay stong but once everybody left I broke down.
