Everyone was gathered in the ballroom, chatting and conversing with their friends and family as they awaited the arrival of the royals of Acanthus. James waved to a few of his classmates he saw, but stayed with his sisters and Hugo.

"Kiny Marlon of Acanthus!" A voice announced and Marlon stepped down from the stairs, a long purple cape gracefully dragging down the stairs as he walked.

Amber sighed dreamily, shaking both James and Sofia. "Look at how dreamy he is..." Hugo laughed before shaking his head at Amber's usual crushes.

"The Queen and Princess of Acanthus!"

James paid close attention as Cassandra walked down the stairs with her mother. She smiled, completely brightening up the room despite the cold aura her mother brought. For a second, she seems to have glanced at James, giving a sweeter smile before looking back to the others in the room.

Hugo laughed a bit. "She smiled at me." The other three gave Hugo either a laugh or a roll of the eyes. James adjusted his coat, ready to ask her for her first dance, as the dancing would be starting soon.

James waited until Queen Daphne left to talk to some other royals before approaching Cassandra. She didnt seem shocked when he approached her, but gave him another warm smile. James' heart started beating.

He collected himself before bowing, holding a hand out for the princess. "Would M'lady like to dance?" Cassandra chuckled, taking his hand, never losing her smile as she did.

"I would love to."

The two walked to the center of the ballroom as music began to play. Other pairs walked to the center of the room as well, beginning to dance around James and Cassandra.

"Remember the slumber party?" James laughed, remembering how they danced there as well. Cassandra nodded with a giggle, turning red as James pulled her closer and they began to dance.

"Guys, look!" Sofia pointed to James and Cassandra as Hugo and Amber smiled proudly.

"The guy actually did it." Hugo laughed, crossing his arms. "Man are both of them lucky. Though, I guess only time will tell how James will confess. Or Cass." He shrugged.

Amber was about to speak before gasping in surprise. She suddenly pulled out her fan and fluttered it, trying to seem as regal as possible. Hugo and Sofia turned around, seeing Marlon stand behind them.

He seemed shocked at first, not knowing how to greet them, but he gulped it in and smiled. "Welcome. I take it you were all invited by Cassandra?" The three simply nodded, giving a bow in the presence of the new King. Amber blushed behind her fan, gripping Sofia's arm.

Marlon turned to where James and Cassandra were dancing, something crossing his mind before he let it off with a sigh.

"Marlonnnnn!" A voice called out and a man stepped closer to them. He was around the same age as Marlon, walking up to the newly proclaimed king and ruffling his hair.

Hugo rolled his eyes as the two princesses laughed. Marlon chuckled before fixing his hair and adjusting his crown. "Nice to see you again, Axel."

"My little baby brother causing any trouble? Don't worry he's a good kid secretly." Axel laughed, wrapping an arm around Marlon's shoulder before dragging him off somewhere. As they left, Amber sighed in pure bliss, the other two laughing at her.

The first dance ended and everyone was in gentle applause. More people started piling up the center of the room to dance, but James grabbed Cassandra's hand.

"Let's go somewhere else!" He smiled cheekily. As he dragged Cassandra away from the crowds.

"James? Wha--"

She let herself follow him out the door and into the large balcony where the moon was in full view. The city was lighted up beautifully like it was once before, and Cassandra smiled in happiness.

James held both of her hands, sighing before smiling at her. Cassandra blushed deeply, smiling back and she looked into his eyes.

"Cassandra...there's something I want to tell you."
