Dani's pov
-
The lights went out one by one, the grip on my script disappeared. The papers fell from my hands and landed on the cold floor of the stage
The room was dark, it was empty. Just like everything I was feeling right now.
I felt like everything was consuming me with each passing second. There's so many things I felt at once
A charge strike of anger flowed through my veins
Sadness washed over me like a wave
Emptiness filled my heart like water. My emotions spiraled out of control.
I clenched my jaw and stared at the door Mia left behind, I was feeling so many things at once but I knew I had to carry on.
I couldn't stay here and waste my life away thinking about what could have been or what should have happened when I could just put myself first.
I grabbed my script and and hopped off the stage, shoving the papers into my dufle bag and slung it over my shoulder
My mind was set on one thing and one thing only right now. My tryouts. As much as I truly cared for the girl, I had bigger fish to fry. I needed to put myself first right now and get it together.
I pushed open the auditorium door and walked down the empty hallway, I guess everyone's left. It was just me and my echoed from my footsteps
I quickly headed over to the gym, I pushed opened the door and saw the dance team scattered around, stretching their muscles or randomly talking about whatever it was humans talked about
I dropped my bag to the floor of the locker and quickly changed out of my clothes, I slipped on some black spandex and a tight gym bra, my hair pulled into a bun and I nointed my arms
I walked of out the lockers, my arms interlocked with each other and I stretched my muscles, my feet found the floor as I slowly did a split, feeling my legs expand with each passing second. My lungs filled with cool aid and I exhaled, My hands reached over to my toe, flexing the muscles in my upper body and dipping my back.
"Next up, Dani Slavic" A voice rang, I glanced in the direction of the voice and saw my coach running through a few papers, her eyes were focused on the pen she had in her hand. She was a hard woman to impress, hopefully I'd change her mind today
"Wooooaaa Go Dani!" A voice rang through the gym, I smiled to myself as my eyes met hers
Luna gave me a thumbs up as she grinned widely from the bleachers, I returned the smile and came to the center of the floor
I closed my eyes, the music blasted through the speakers, the unique voice of Ava Max filled my ears. I allowed the beat to carry me
When I heard the music it was like liquid adrenaline being injected right into my blood stream - not so strong as to freak me out, but just enough to make me tingle and start to move my body.
My arms threw into the air, my body bent backwards and my feet flew into the air, I landed flat on my feet and my body twisted, the adrenaline coursed through my veins
With one swift move, I was bolted in the air, my arms wrapped around myself tightly as my ankles spun like a blade, I landed on my feet again, perfectly. I continued my movements at ease, I danced like I knew the steps for years. My music thrilled me, my body rocked to the rhythm.
My eyes were still closed during my dance, I pushed off my toes and my body turned on its side, my arms reached out to the floor as I did a cart wheel, quickly rising to my feet and flicking forward. My arms my heart pounded against my chest. Thankfully I built enough stamina over the years to continue this.
