"I can't believe I did that. Oh my word. I actually did it. Claire, I did it!" Dean rambled on in disbelief.
We were sitting on the bleachers waiting for the next few people to complete the wall, because Mr. Lachowski allowed everyone who was done to do whatever they pleased.
"Thank you so much!" Dean thanked me for the millionth time. "It's really no big deal." I laughed and shrugged.
"I'll make it up to you, I promise!" he told me. "I don't want you to do anything in return Dean. What are friends for?" I looked at him raising my brows. "Laughing at you when you do something stupid." he laughed "But you're not my friend."
"Whatever Dean, stop denying it." I told him with a chuckle.
"But you're not!" he defended.
"Am too!"
"Are not!"
"Am too!"
"Are not!"
"PEACHES!" I screamed, causing everyone's heads to turn our way and making a few people fall off the wall.
There was a short silence until I said, "Erm...carry on with you're lives...nothing to see here."
"Err...yeah, nothing at all." Dean backed me.
As soon as everyone was on with their lives, we continued our conversation.
"Remember when you told me to think of something I really like while climbing the wall?" Dean asked. "Yip." I told him popping the 'p'.
"Wanna know what I was thinking of?"
I was curious as to what he was gonna say so I was about to say yes but then I thought about what a typical boy would think of and a shiver ran down my spine.
"No thanks!" I said blocking my ears.
"Well I'm gonna tell you anyways." I heard him say faintly through my blocked ears.
A mischievous smile played on his lips and my eyes widened.
In addition to my blocked ears I start singing random words to block out his voice.
"Lalalalalala! I can't hear you! Lalalalalala Nananananana! Lollipop Candy Sugar Gumdrops!" were the words I used to ignore the words slipping from his mouth.
I caught him laughing at my childish behaviour and noticed a dimple in his left cheek.
"Awww! You've got a dimple!" I cooed poking the dimple and laughing.
"Claire!" he exclaimed covering his face in his hands to hide his red face and dimple.
"Is wittle Deany blushing." I teased forming my lips into a pout.
"Don't make me ignore you forever." Dean told me.
Thinking about all the conversations we shared I've realized Dean isn't really a problem kid. He's just another normal person like everyone else who has their ups and downs, their good days and their bad days. He's just trying to find someone that will accept him for who he is. Just like I am.
