Time goes by quickly, something I'm not sure that I appreciate. Harry first called me around two o'clock and now the time reads 5:47 and my hair isn't even brushed yet.

"Girl, what is the issue?" Jade searches through my closet. "Look! This is cute, look how cute. It has pretty frilly sleeves on it. It's loose fitting and breathable. It's dressed up but casual at the same time." She holds up a yellow off-the-shoulder top. The loose sleeves would come right to my elbow. The bottom ends are laced and the top of the shirt is scuffled.

"I mean, yeah it's cute and all but it's too small up here," I motion around my chest area. "I haven't worn it because every time I lift my arms up, the shirt goes up with it."

"So? Don't be a drama queen, just put it on!" She throws it at me.

Jade came over to my house shortly after Harry and I ended our call. We've spent the past thirty or so minutes going through my wardrobe trying to put together a good enough outfit for tonight. All of the outfits she's picked out are either too dressy or too casual.

No, it's not that big of a deal for what to wear, but I'm meeting his little sister tonight. I can't dress too fancy or look too much like a slob for my first impression.

And she's eight. Her opinion of me will be made clear upon the time she and I make eye contact.

Children are terrifyingly ruthless.

I huff in annoyance but pull the shirt over my body anyways.

"Look at how cute. Like I said. Now for some jeans-"

"No, look." I tell her as I raise my arms and drop them again. Instead of resting in the middle of my chest, the neckline of the shirt now sits...well...on my neck. The sight is laughable but I roll my eyes when she erupts in giggles. "See? Told you. It fits weird and I don't like it. I won't be comfortable."

I pull the shirt off and sit in my bra once more.

"Back on the adventure then." Jade sighs once she's finished laughing.

"I'll just wear jeans and a t-short." I throw my hands in the air. "I don't feel comfortable in anything else."

"What t-shirt? The same oil stained gray athletic t-shirt that you wear to every event?" She rolls her eyes at me. "I bet you wore it to your first date with him too."

"I don't even remember what I wore, but it wasn't that." I pout.

She doesn't say anything. The room is silent apart from the scraping of hangers against the meal pole.

I take this time to do something else with my appearance. I brush out the tangles in my hair before deciding to part it into two Dutch braids.

"I mean," Jade mumbles.

I freeze halfway down my hair and turn to look at her. I hum in question.

"You have this jean jacket in here that's really cute. You're just so difficult. All of these clothes and you can't find a single outfit to wear? You have really pretty summer dresses and jeans. All of these pretty shirts that you can pair with literally black leggings and call it a day. And you can't find anything?" She blows raspberries into the air.

"I don't want to wear a dress, though. I'm going roller skating, what if I fall and everyone looks up my skirt?"

"That's why you wear shorts underneath."

"I still don't want to wear one."

"Okay. Fine. Look, you're wearing this jacket. It's cute and different. We just have to find something to pair it with."
