Nathaniel
So yes, I know I am a coward, but I have no choice. I've been here for the last hour and I've noticed nothing out of the ordinary. I know you're probably wondering where 'here' is. Well, I'm somewhere on the rooftop directly above Daniel's chambers, looking down on him as he does his activities. So, yes, am spying on my brother. Why? I don't know... (Sigh)
See, ever since Daniel returned from the sacrifice of the gods, he hasn't been himself. Whereas he was always looking for nasty ways to get back at me, he now keeps to himself. The only time he comes out of his chamber, it is to take a walk throughout this whole place, looking or searching for something not known to me. (And yes, I also stalk him. Pathetic , I know)
I've even tried engaging him in small talk, but he keeps silent. Even dad tried for a confrontation but Daniel still kept mute. He was even threatened to some other form of punishment, but we were met by a bizzare sight. My dad, the minor god he is, isn't used to being refused anything, especially by his own sons. So when Daniel defied him, he got angry, and when he does, it's not a pretty sight. But just as his anger was brewing, the rest of us around the scenario had started getting affected, Daniel had simply looked on as if it was nothing to be concerned about. My fathers wrath had grown, but so had Daniel's. The moment Daniel's anger registered, we felt another power, one stronger than my Father's by a million fold. Even my father had stepped back, his own anger turning to shock. Then Daniel had turned and left the room.
So you will understand why I'm trying to find out what's going on with Daniel. But for two weeks of spying and stalking, I have nothing to show for it. My mind springs back to the present when I feel someone behind me. I turn readying myself to attack the being by surprise, but I realize I'm a second too late as I feel myself tackled and pinned to the roof.
I then groan out when I'm kicked in the side. My hands are suddenly released and the mask from my face removed. I turn, only to come face to face with Daniel. His face twists in anger and I can feel the stronger power emanating from him and it is then, that I realize I can't defeat him. Not with this alien power of his.
"What the fuck are you doing Nathan? So you really are this desperate, huh? A spy.. Seriously? I expected way much more from you" He speaks through clenched teeth. I sincerely have no reasonable excuse to be here so I keep silent and look up at him. After a while, he shakes his head and turns to leave but not before muttering "you will never find what you are looking for. She's not your business and neither am I. I don't even know why you bother."
After he leaves, I continue staying there, contemplating what the hell just went on. I'm still lost in my thoughts when I feel some other presence. I turn, expecting another confrontation with Daniel, but it's just my best friend, Kenny, the seer.
Kenny is like the close brother I never had. He's always been there for me. I have already told him what has been going on with Daniel, and he looked worried with the news.
After explaining what has just gone down with Daniel, he stares off in space. I look at him as he looks like he's battling with something inside his head. He finally looks at me and let's out a long sigh. He then stands up, and holds his hand out to me. I raise an eyebrow at it and the only reply I get, is "stand up. We need to take a little walk and discuss something."
We are just taking a turn towards the path that will lead to the forbidden gates, when Kenny suddenly stops. He hasn't said anything to me and I have decided to give him his space knowing he will drop the bomb when he's ready.
He turns and looks at me with keen, sad eyes. I stare back at him, not saying a word, and he finally looks away. He sits down on the pavement, and I join him.
"Listen to what I'm going to tell you carefully Nathan. Because I'm never going to go over this topic again," He starts "whatever is going on with your twin, it started beyond those gates. I've listened to everything you've been telling me about his behavior, and I've come up with one conclusion," He sighs then looks at me. "I have a feeling your brother is the chosen one Nathan. Whatever he met inside those gates, we don't know, but am sure its what triggered all these behaviors he has. But that we can't be sure of, unless he confides in us, which he won't. What am sure of though, is about his powers. Nathaniel, your brother's powers have finally kicked in. He is full of Gaia's powers now. Add that to those he already had, of manipulating the weather, and you come up with something dangerous. Something undefeatable. Something not seen before. Even he, may not realize what he's capable of now, but Daniel alone, can turn the world upside down, by himself. Do you understand the gravity of this situation?" My mouth has been hanging the entire time he has been speaking, and his question takes me by surprise. When I do not answer, he sighs and continues. "I'll take that to be a no. The gravity of the situation my friend, is this: Daniel's powers kicking in with this much strength, can only be as a result of coming into contact with that whom he inherits his powers from. This means that your brother came into contact with Gaia, the earth mother, and that is not a good thing. The gods only visit beings like us for a reason. For Gaia to visit your twin, add the fact that he was supposed to have gotten powers from her, means that she was there to ask something of him. Either to be sent somewhere, or to be granted a desire. If it were the latter, Daniel would have been happier, but seeing as he is now. That can only leave us to conclude he was sent somewhere. Don't ask me where, cause I'm not going to tell you, but it's dangerous enough to get on your brother's nerves." By now, I've at least regained my sense of speech and I speak the first words that come to mind. "Daniel.. Him... Why?? How do you know they are Gaia's powers and not some form of alien power he is using? How sure are you that he's going to be more powerful than anyone else?" My ramble comes to a stop when Kenny gives me a sad smile. "The answer as to why it is Daniel.. And not you..,I don't know. As of the 2nd question, I'm certain. This is because I've been exposed to Gaia's power before. I had a friend who had them and I can feel the same confidence and superiority oozing off your twin. About the last question," He takes a deep breath and let's it out before looking at me again. "Gaia could only have chosen him for one reason. Whether she visited the goddess of destiny to be told of Daniel's destiny or not, She knows one thing, and that thing, is what I'm about to tell you.... (Sigh) she knows that Daniel is going to be very.... Very... Very powerful. More than anything we've ever come across. He may not realize it at all, but he was destined to be this powerful, and only because there might be another opponent. One almost as powerful as him. And there will erupt a war, to establish the stronger side. Who the opponent is, and whatever the winning side will be, that you will find out in due time."
