"Nice dorm, Ash," an excited voice bubbled from beside me.

Yeah, real nice.

I plopped onto the soft, grey couch in the sitting lounge, quite annoyed by the intruder's presence. Sighing under my breath, I began playing with my jet-black hair, then pulled my phone out of my pocket.

Beside me, the blond bimbo made himself comfortable on the couch, glancing around at the arrangement of my dorm: Personalised picture frames hanging on the walls, a fuzzy welcome mat sitting in front of the main door, and evergreen plants hanging by the balcony doors.

Ignoring him completely, I scrolled through my Instagram feed.

Lame pranks, memes, a model, heartbreaking poetry, blah, blah...

A certain post caught my eye, and its caption caused my eyes to widen.

kat.lopez Would you take a bullet for me?

        dawny16 That's a fishy caption...

        nora_eclair what're u hinting at :0

        drakefish YOU'RE GORGEOUS 😳

I found myself smiling upon seeing Kate's outstretched cherry pink lips, her light freckles seeming quite prominent under the golden tint of the sun. Her eyes gleamed with various shades of brown and green, and her smooth cheeks, slightly dipping in to form dimples, were spread out into a grin. She sat on one of the benches placed by a fountain, its forever-flowing crystalline water twinkling under the sun.

It was the cutest picture ever, considering even how appropriately she was dressed up – a blue denim jacket over a plain white t-shirt the only visible pieces of clothing in the post – yet she seemed naturally flawless.

I drafted up a comment before I could change my mind.

        kissmyash i already did ;)

I never usually liked posts, let alone commenting on them, but I guess this girl was an exception. With my lips still pulled into a smile, I brought my hand over to my face, trying to hide the embarrassing heat creeping up my cheeks but to no avail.

I was pulled out of my thoughts upon hearing someone click their fingers at me.

"Whatchu smiling at?" Nate asked curiously as I switched my phone off..

Totally no Joe Goldberg vibes from me. None from him, either. None at all.

"Um, a friend texted me saying something," I bluntly lied as he snuggled deeper into the fluffy cushions on the couch, his oceanic blue eyes peering into my leafy green ones. He was rather too comfortable here for my liking.

"Right," he replied curtly. "So, where's your dorm buddy? Or do you not have one?"

"Oh, she'll be back soon. The time's–" I glanced at my wristwatch – "three on the dot, meaning Biology just ended."
