I awoke to a loud knocking on my bedroom door. I groaned and got up.
"Yes?" I asked slightly annoyed.
"Your mother would like to speak with you in an hour. She requested I wake you." The guard said. I nodded and closed the door.
I grabbed a couple things and headed for the shower. While I was under the burning hot water I wondered what it was that my mother so formally requested to speak to me about. About 20 minutes later I got out and dried my hair and then got dressed.
I walked down the hallway, it was almost empty except for a guard stationed at every corridor.
I knocked on the doors to the throne room. I entered after hearing my mother's voice yell "come in."
"Yes mother? You wanted to speak with me?" She got up sitting on the stairs beneath her throne.
"Come sit." She said, "i thought you should hear this from me. I know your reservations on this sort of thing and I just knew I had to tell you before word got out."
"Mom your worrying me." I said laughing halfheartedly.
"It's about your sister, Venus." She said, looking lost on how exactly to break the news to me.
"Is she okay?" I asked, and She quickly responded
"No she's fine she's just fine." She said pausing in thought.
"Dom and Niki are coming this week." She said I looked at her scrunching up my face.
"What does that have to do with Venus?" I asked
"They're here for a treaty." She said sighing.
"That's amazing! The angels and Demons have been at war for centuries!" I said, this was amazing.
"I know darling, that's why I had it do it."
"Do...what?" I said getting a little scared the longer she waited.
"Yours sister is going to marry their son, Tomas." She said in a rush, as if to get it off her chest.
I jumped up looking horrified. No. No.
"An arranged marriage?" I said almost disgusted with her. She knew my feelings on this. "It's degrading of women. It's so—wait she agreed to do this?"
She squirmed under my gaze. She wouldn't.
"She doesn't know does she is." I asked my voice sounding emotionless. My mother shook her head. I scoffed looking away.
"I'm going to tell her this afternoon." She said her voice soft and sad.
"I can't believe you. You know she's in love with Zach." Zach was Ivy's son. They weren't dating exactly, they did plan on getting married though.
"Y/n I had to do it. She's the eldest daughter. It's her responsibility."
"She'll be crushed." I said "but I hope your happy." I ran off to my bedroom willing the tears not to fall from my eyes.
I slammed the door behind me falling against it sobbing. She couldn't have. These were her daughters. The beings she molded from stars and brought to life.
This cannot be happening. No. I couldn't believe it. Of all of my sisters, why Venus, the one who's found love, and is happy. Why her?
