you were woke up by the sound of your front door opening, and your mom calling you down from the kitchen.

"be down in a second, mom!" you yelled, throwing on a sweater since you were kind of cold. you trailed your way down the stairs, and you saw your mom standing in the kitchen with grocery bags. "mom, it's 8 in the morning..." you complained, rubbing the sleep from your eyes.

"i know, aren't you going to lunch with josh today? you need to get ready!" she spoke to you, having way too much energy for your liking.

"mom, it's 8am... we're going at noon. i don't need to get ready for a couple more hours..." you told her, starting to help with putting the groceries away.

"didn't you say you were going to self tan, and stuff? that takes a long time, doesn't it?" she asked you, opening the fridge to put the milk away.

"well, yeah... i guess i didn't think about that. i'll go do that now. thanks, mom!" you smiled at her, and put away what you had in your hands, and you went back upstairs to grab your shower stuff. you exfoliated, and shaved and put on some fake tan. you hadn't been on a date in so long, that you weren't entirely sure what to wear, or really how to act. you weren't sure if this was even a real date. was it a real date, or just lunch with a friend? you had yet to figure that out...

it was about 10, and you were still rummaging through your clothes to find something to wear when your phone buzzed. you didn't bother to look at the caller ID, because it was either your parents, or josh.

"hello?" you answered, putting your phone between your shoulder and ear.

"hey!" josh spoke on the other end, as giddy as ever.

"oh, hey! sorry, i didn't look at who called. what're you up to?" you explained to him, as he sort of laughed on the other end of the line.

"not much. just got out of bed. now, i'm trying to find something to wear for our date later." he explained to you, you could hear rummaging in the background.

"i'm doing the same thing. i just finished putting on some fake tan, and now i'm trying my best to find something to wear later." you said to him, looking at your arm to see if your tan had been working.

"you're goin' all out, aren't you?" he joked with you, causing you to blush.

"well, yeah! i gotta look good, don't i?" you said.

"oh, please. you don't have to do all that shit to look good. you could wear a trash bag and you'd still be the prettiest girl i've ever met..." he trailed off a little at the end.

you turned even more red than before, and tried to find the words to respond to him.

"wait, really? you really think that?" you questioned, "no one's ever said that to me before..." you told him.

"well, they must be blind, then. you're so beautiful." he told you again, making you sort of giggle.

"thanks, josh. you really don't know how much that means to me..." you admitted. "um- anyways... i'm going to try to find something to wear for later. i'll see you later, though! text me when you're on your way." you said to him, waiting for his response.

"ok! i'll see you later, y/n!" he spoke and hung up the phone.

you set your phone down on your bed and had a full blown freak out.

'he said i was beautiful... WHAT!??!?! joshua bassett, the most beautiful boy i know, thinks I'M beautiful...' you thought to yourself, walking back to your closet, settling on a dress to wear later.
