Chapter One

The soft golden sun shined on Micheals face, warming his cheeks. He couldn’t remember exactly how he got here but he wasn’t necessarily complaining. The dewey green grass moving in the wind and providing him a sort of calm he had never felt before. Still, the unknowing of where he was and what he was doing unnerved him slightly. He tried thinking back to what happened just before but he couldn’t for the life of him recall any memories.

He set off into the foliage, walking without a real sense of purpose but with a fair amount of curiosity. In the distance he could see a glimmering sign when he squinted, that being the nearest landmark he could see he ran towards it. His converse padded towards the post, his dark hair bouncing. When he finally got to the sign he examined it as he panted from the heavy excursion, hunching over and panting. The sign read “Paradise Park” which Micheal thought was highly fitting, since as far as he could see there were multiple types of flowers, trees and forestry. The beauty of the display in front of him reminded me of something he hadn’t even thought of, Jeremy!

He immediately reached into the pockets of his tattered red hoodie and pulled out the old flip phone his ina gave him for his 14th birthday. He opened it up and saw his wallpaper, while the quality wasn’t great he could still make out his best friend's face, slightly crooked teeth peeking out from his pink teeth. Micheal grinned at the memory, the two were at the state fair and had just gotten off “the twisted dragon” the ride itself was nauseating but the adrenaline had left the two ready to run around the entire fair.

“Mikey come on let's take a picture!” Micheal rolled his eyes looking at his hyper best friend now holding a terrifying amount of pink cotton candy “Okay fine but no posting it anywhere dorkus”. Now it was Jeremy’s turn to roll his eyes. “Oh yeah cause I definitely have a huge fanbase, seriously man have you seen my instagram” Jeremy said, starting to laugh. Micheal loved Jeremys laugh the way his eyes squeezed together and his dimples became visible, it was one of the most beautiful things Micheal had ever seen or heard. The filipinno boy shook his head with a grin while taking out his shitty nokia, wrapping his arm around Jeremys shoulder and snapped a picture. That's a keeper, Micheal thought while later seeing the image.

Suddenly Micheal had an amazing idea, this would be the perfect place to tell Jeremy how he felt. He’d stop at the 7 11, buy him some snacks, maybe a new game- this was a GREAT idea, even if the idea of giving up his secret made his stomach swirl. He still needed to find his way back though, still failing to remember the events leading up to him getting there so Micheal had assumed he just got too high and went for a mid day walk (in classic Micheal fashion).

He scrolled through his short list of contacts to find the ever found himself using. Jerry :)

He quickly pressed the button to pull up messages, since Jeremy rarely answers his calls, plus he didn't mind exploring the park for a bit.

 - Hey Jerry! Are u bsy rn?

He wasn't expecting an immediate response so he took off deeper into the trees, he made sure he kept track of where he was going. He walked for about ten minutes when he found a huge tree, he wasn't sure what kind but it was curved over with long branches covered in pink flowers and little purple berries. He felt like this was a good place to take a little rest before he went farther so he sat himself on a flat rock next to the odd looking tree, then deciding to pick up one of the few fallen berries and squish it in between his fingers. The berry burst and dark red juice splattered all over his face and arms. “Shit” Micheal exclaimed under his breath, not only because he would surely have to scrub out the stain it left but also because of the awful feeling the sight of the crimson flowing down his arm gave him. He quickly wiped his hand in the grass. He looked around in a flash of nervousness. No one. He rested his head against the tree and tried to shrug off his growing dread. He zoned out while looking at the sky, void of clouds and weirdly, birds.

In fact he hadn’t seen a single animal this whole time…. He tried thinking of a valid reason for the lack of life but couldn't find one, although he didn't have much time to think about it since a buzz from his pocket and jolted him out of his train of thought. Micheal pulled out his phone and looked at the message his player one had sent him, taken back by what he saw.

Jerry :) - who the fuck are you

“Ok” Micheal said out loud “this is officially getting weird'

Me -Jerry??? Its me Mike? Are you ok

Jerry :) - your lying!!! You bitch your lying how did you find my friends phone ill call the cops

Me - Jeremy… your scaring me, this is Micheal I swear to you…

Jerry :) - ohyeah??!!! Well thats really fucking funny , cause the shit im seeing right now tells me differently Just leave me alone please im just trying to be with my friend keep the fucking phone i dont care

Me - what do you mean dude? Im really reallyyyy confused, im not trying to make you upset i just, im a little lost, in a couple dfferent ways actually

Micheal didn't get a response for a couple minutes, he spent his free time picking at grass trying to figure out what the hell was going on. The phone buzzed again and his phone had a notification that someone had sent an image, it was Jeremy.

He opened the message and what he saw made his body cold, he felt like vomiting. It wasn't a picture like the one from his phone wallpaper. In the picture he saw… himself.  Now anyone could surely see how that could be extremely unnerving, seeing a picture of yourself that you have no memory of taking or having taken, but it got so much worse.

It was Micheal, laying on a hospital bed, tubes hooked up to his arms and what looked like a giant tube shoved down his throat. He had what looked like dried crusted blood on his forehead and nose but what scared him most was just.. How pale he was. His once olive skin was now almost as pale as his friends. Micheal looked like death.
