Jeremy Heere was never the same after that. He had an empty space in his heart, the space that used to be occupied by Micheal, his laugh, his shining brown eyes. He kept going though, he finished the life that Micheal didn't have the chance too, and he knew Micheal was happy he was. He made new friends, he knew they would never compare to the one he lost but they made him smile again, he gave him a chance to be happy.

He also had the memories, the memories of the hot summer days at the pool, the memories of playing video games in Micheals basement all night long, the day they went to the fair and Jeremy got to hyped off cotton candy, the evenings on his rooftop gazing at the pink and oranges of the setting sun as he rested his head on the shoulder of that familiar red hoodie.

As for Micheal, he kept his promise, he watched Jeremy and cheered him on from Paradise park, which he had come to find out was pretty much heaven, well almost. It wouldn't be heaven until he was able to talk to Jeremy again.

He wasn't alone of course, he was somewhat relieved to see that the lack of life only lasted until he wasn’t in between the planes of life and the afterlife, there were others, and more people would come every now and then, each with their own story. He tried to help them adjust or figure out what was going on. After a while his two mothers arrived and he embraced them again for the first time in what seemed like forever. Micheal was at peace, but there was still a part of him aching.

Micheal was walking through the forest of what seemed like infinite park when he heard a gasp from behind him. “Micheal-” He knew that voice and immediately without even having to think, bolted to Jeremy, stopping inches away from his face. Jeremy was in tears “why are you crying love?” Micheal asked “I missed you Micha”. Micheal nodded, tearing up as well, he had waited long enough, he cupped the face of the love of his life in one of his hands and wrapped the other around his waist and brought Jeremy into a kiss.

Jeremy let his eyes fall shut, tears of joy running down his face as he focused on the feeling of Micheals lips and the warmth from his body.

Finally after all the suffering that life had put them through, all the good times and the bad times.

The two were in paradise.

Death with dignity by Sufjan Stevens

Spirit of my silence I can hear you, but I'm afraid to be near you

And I don't know where to begin

And I don't know where to begin

Somewhere in the desert there's a forest, and an acre before us

But I don't know where to begin

But I don't know where to begin

Again I lost my strength completely, oh be near me tired old mare

With the wind in your hair

Amethyst and flowers on the table, is it real or a fable?

Well I suppose a friend is a friend

And we all know how this will end
