After Lunch

As Blyke walked through the halls after lunch, his mind was still buzzing from the news. He couldn't believe it! A new royal! If he plays his cards right, he could become one. He always admired Arlo because he was strong, confident, and always kept his cool. Having an opportunity to learn from Arlo was almost like a dream come true.

Blyke continued to think about the Jack tournament when suddenly Isen was walking next to him with his hand around his shoulder. A bright smile on his face, Isen thrusts the school paper into Blyke's hands.

"Hey man, what's up," Blyke said with a smile, the thought about becoming a royal making his entire day brighter. He then glanced down at the newspaper that had been so rudely shoved into his hands. It was at that moment that Blyke realized that the newspaper was all about the competition for the new Jack, "whoa... how'd you get this out so fast?"

Isen, completely ignoring his question, began asking questions about Blyke's interest in the tournament. "Are you going to participate?"

"When did you find out?" Blyke tried again, not quite comprehending how he could of snuck behind Arlo's defenses.

Isen replied with a smug look on his face,  "I had a source on the inside."

"Come on tell me who was your source?"  Blyke joked playfully, nudging Isen with his elbow.

Isen tsked shaking his head,  "a good reporter never reveals his source."

"Fine whatever. Are you going to enter the tournament?" Blyke asked, raising one eyebrow in curiosity.

It was a valid question considering the fact that they both had a really good shot at becoming a royal.

Isen shook his head, the thought of the responsibility that came with the title did not really appeal to the hunter. He was perfectly happy just being part of the school newspaper, but he also knew that Blyke wanted this spot more than he ever would which would make him a good Jack.

Blyke frowned at the answer, the realization that the pathway to becoming a royal was easier than he originally believed, was making him antsy. "Why?"

"Because, he's smart." Cecile spoke from behind them.

Both Blyke and Isen turned around startled to face the former Jack. Cecile had had a taste of royalty before Remi defeated her in single combat and now she was back to reclaim her position. The smug grin she gave the two high tiers was enough to tick Blyke off.

"Bug off Cecile." Blyke growled, not intimidated by the green haired girl even though he was frightened a second ago.

Cecile folded her arms, taking a step towards the duo, "and why would I do that? Last I checked, my level is higher than yours."

Blyke was becoming increasingly more and more frustrated because not only was she correct, but she was cocky. Taking a step towards her, Blyke started to activate his power, rolling up his sleeves in the process.

"Don't." Isen stepped in, placing a hand in front of Blyke. "Save it for the battle."

"Fine." Blyke quickly dismissed himself from the duo. The fairy tale thoughts of being the Jack was now becoming clouded by an ugly green haired witch.
