Braelynn's POV
I sighed walking into the lunchroom to find Aspen. I totally forgot how hard school was. My mind is like a jumbled mess right now.
"Hey Brae, over here." I hear and turn to see Aspen frantically waving in the lunch line. I walk over to her and start to grab my lunch.
"Omg I have so much to tell you! You won't even believe it. I mean I can't." She says. I laughed at her. This was why she's my best friend, my life would be so dull without her.
"Ok wait till we get to a table, you don't want others hearing about it." I said as we walked to a table. We managed to find an empty on in the corner of the lunchroom. It's better than nothing, or talking to strangers.
"Ok so remember that boy I told you about this morning. Well him name is Grayson and he's like totes adorbs in person. I have like 2 classes with him and we talked the entire time, until the teachers yelled at us, anyways. He gave me his number and asked if I wanted to go out Friday night! AHHHH!" She says her face lighting up. I sat there shocked but mostly kinda sad. His name reminded me of someone. No, I can't be him. I'm just crazy. He's gone, he left you. I shook my head turning my attention back to her.
"Omg, that's great! Do you need help getting ready or anything? See I knew you were going to have some classes with him." I said digging into my food.
"No I'm fine. Plus, I think I know a little more about getting ready. Which brings me to my next topic, you see any cute boys you like?" She whispered wiggling her eyebrow. I broke out in laughter as she sat there with a serious face. I realized she wasn't kidding and stopped laughing.
"No, of course not. After what happened with, you know, I'm not really ready to date." I said feeling kind of embarrassed.
"Brae, I know what you went through was hard but that was freshman year. You can't let him hold this above you for the rest of your life. You are better than that, than him too." She says.
"I know it's just, what if all my relationships are that bad. Maybe life just doesn't want me to love. Don't you notice I don't have any boy figures inside my life that isn't in my family." I said.
"He was an asshole, and I remember telling you from the start. Not all boys are like him. I know plenty of respectable guys at this school. Granted there are some bad ones but for the most part, they're better than him." She says reaching for my hand.
"You're right. But I think I'm going to wait till college. Boys aren't my number one priority right now and school is going to be kicking my butt. But if I find a decent guy. I might give him a chance." I say feeling a little hopeful.
"Good job, and if you never find a guy, I'll leave my husband and we can be cranky cat lady's together." She says giving me a smile. I chuckle.
"Deal. We can start a house where all the single cat ladies can live together. That'll be fun." I said lightening the mood.
"Yes, and we can play cards, drink wine on the porch, and live our lives to highest potential that old ladies can." Aspen says.
"Yes please. Now, are you going to eat the rest of your fries?" I asked her. She handed them over and went to dump her tray. I quickly finished her fries before going to dumpy own tray. 3 more classes and I'm done with school for the day.
Thank god.
