i watched my memories in this city cross through my mind as the car took us further and further away from the home i once knew. the home that raised me, the home that taught me right from wrong. i hate the thought of leaving everything i know behind. it's almost as if i'm becoming a new person by moving.

a new life, new school, new friends, new eveything.

we spent hours driving through mountains and over rivers to get to the small town that we were going to call home now. my mom, dad, and little sister were all eager to see the house. me, on the other hand, couldn't have been more unenthused.

it was bigger than our old one, with two floors and two acres of land. the house stood tall in the fenced in yard, with even taller green trees. we parked in the garage that could easily fit three cars in it.

"alright, we are here!" mom says and parks the car, as if we didn't already know where we were.

"i'm picking my room out!" lisa squeals, clutching her favorite doll to her chest before rushing into the house. i groan, not wanting to get out. in fact, all i really wanted to do was drive all the way back.

"come on, y/n, at least give the house a look around." dad says, but it's not like it would make a difference if i got out to look around or not. nothing was going to change.

"i already hate it here without getting out of the car." i sigh, hopping out of the vehicle. i didn't mind giving my parents a hard time. you would think they had to
move for a job or something, but they moved because they just wanted to... that's what makes it worse, they didn't take into account how i would feel.

my feet carried me into the house. it is pretty nice, i'm sure it will look even nicer with all of our things inside. i went upstairs to see lisa playing with her doll in an empty bedroom, in the middle of the floor. "so, this is your room?" i ask, leaning in the doorway.

"yep! all mine!" she smiles to me before looking at her doll, "i didn't pick it out, sunny did."

i shrug at her and the doll she calls sunny, "well, i'm going to pick my room now."

"you get the smallest room." lisa speaks up.

i tilt my head as if it would help me process what she said, "do what? the smallest room?"

"yep, there's only three bedrooms, and the biggest one is for mommy and daddy." lisa says before breaking into song, forcing poor sunny to dance like an idiot as she sings.

i scoff before checking the hallway myself. she was right, this was only a three bedroom house.

"the movers are here!" dad calls from downstairs. he gave lisa specific instructions to stay out of their way when the movers get there. he also told her to be good.

the rest of the evening, i spent unpacking my things into that small bedroom. i could have easily put up a fight and won over the larger one, but i actually wanted to feel as though i was living in hell. it's not like anything else in my life is going exactly my way either.

"knock knock." i hear my mom say from my doorway. i turn and look at her.

"your room is coming together nicely, y/n. why don't you take a break? get a shower and come downstairs for dinner?" she suggests.

"how nice of you to think about my well being all of a sudden." i say, pushing past her to the hallway bathroom. luckily, dad had already stocked the bathroom with towels and our bathroom necessities.

soon, i met my family downstairs for dinner. lisa was busy talking, as usual. mom and dad look exhausted, i almost felt bad for them.

suddenly, there was a knock at the front door. "i'll get it." i say, excusing myself from the table.

my family was hardly burdened by the knocking, i guess they were so used to it being one of my friends or something. i swung the door open, only to see a guy standing on the opposite side of the doorway. he was very handsome, tall, and had a unique smile.

i watch as he bows, "hey, i'm jimin. i just wanted to come by and welcome you to the neighborhood."

i bow back to him, "i'm y/n, thanks for the welcome." i furrow my eyebrows, feeling gross of how those words fell out of my mouth. thanks for the welcome?

my family rushes to the door, they must have heard that it was a boy. "well hello there, jimin. i'm y/n's mother, you can call me mrs. daeng- or mom- whichever you prefer!" my mom bows to him before gripping my shoulders tightly.

how embarrassing...

"nice to meet you, mrs. daeng, mr. daeng." jimin smiles.

"sunny says your cute." lisa speaks up, making her doll wave at jimin. his face turns bright pink, "oh, thank you sunny, and you are?"

"lisa, but you can just call me lisa." she laughs.

"would you like to come in for something to eat, jimin? there is plenty." dad suggests.

"no, i'm fine, thank you. if you want, i can show you around school tomorrow, y/n?" jimin looks at me now, his eyes staring right into mine.

"y-yeah, that would be great." i say.

"great, i'll see you later then." jimin says.

"bye, have a good night!" mom says, as he turns to walk off.

after she shuts the door, they all look at me with wide eyes.

"what?" i question, walking back to the table, a smirk formed across my face. my first acquaintance. my first associate. the first guy i've spoken to in this small town. he was handsome, kind, and adorable, all in one. my family finds their chairs again.

"no boyfriends." dad says.

"your dad is right, honey. no boyfriends, but if you had to pick one, jimin seems sweet." mom says, giving me a smile.

i sit there, "can i go to sleep now?" i ask.

"you want it to be tomorrow already, don't you?" lisa asks.

i nod... i wish tomorrow wasn't so far away...
