My name is Hadley Skyler.

I went ghost hunting in an abandoned mansion with my best friends, Kiara Hudson and Stella Mackenzie.

Kiara told us that she spotted an abandoned mansion and asked if we wanted to go take a look.

I wanted to continue reading my book , since I was getting to the good part of the story, but Kiara had more than one ways to convince a person.

Defeated, me and Stella agreed. Here we are now.

According to Kiara, we needed to come at night If we didn't want to get caught. So, we did meet at exactly 10 pm.

When I saw the girls with their bicycles, I zipped open my backpack. Inside was a flashlight, a pack of Honey Butter chips, more snacks, water, and a towel.

Why does it feel like we are gonna sleep here or something...

Anyways, I took my flashlight. "So, how are we gonna get in?", I asked as we looked at the big, rusty, and old gate.

"Easy, we are gonna climb!", said Kiara, "Hey, not everyone can reach that high." replied Stella, pouting.

I looked at the gate once more. "Stella, it's not that high". The black gate only reached inches above our heads.

"Stella, Kiara, wait here, I'll go look for an easy way in." I said as I jumped above the gate.

I switched my flashlight on.

After a few minutes of walking around, I felt odd.

I didn't feel eerie knowing that it was an abandoned house, It felt familiar instead.

It was like I've been here before.

But when?

Weird.

I saw a small door, covered with bushes.

I shoved the bushes and opened it.

I crawled out and left a big rock outside, just so I can remember where it is.

I ran to the gate and told them about the door.

Kiara and Stella looked very happy.

We quietly went inside and closed the door.

Again, I left a big rock for us not to forget where we should run to if we ever got frightened or if something bad happens.

We went inside the dark mansion, it was not a problem because we had three flashlights, one for each of us.

We looked at the rooms, one by one.

Stella was obviously scared and she nervously laughed and hesitated to continue with our journey.

When we walked through a messy hallway, we saw a window full of cobwebs, and an old rusty furniture that smells... like old people, or just antique wood.

As we slowly moved, the smell of dust was flowing in the air, I can feel it going inside my nostrils, and into my lungs-

"A-chooo!"

"Shhhh! Be quiet, Hadley."

"But Kiara, it's so dus-"

"Stop overreacting."

"Okay." I said while still endlessly murmuring about the dusty surrounding and my asthma.

What can I expect, it's an abandoned mansion.

To get my revenge, I wanted to be a prankster and decided to mess with Stella and Kiara.

While they were not looking, I untied my hair that was in a ponytail, put it in front of my face and placed the flashlight under my chin.

I tapped Stella's shoulder and Kiara's too.

"AAAAAAAAAGGHHHHHHHH!!!!" Kiara shouted and ran towards a room.

Stella just flinched and then laughed. "You weren't that scary, Hadley."

Stella, as the eldest among us three, isn't easily scared of ghosts, but Kiara is.

I fixed my hair, "Hahaha, did you see her face?", "You scared her so much, she ran towards a room." Stella said.

I tied my hair so that it won't get too hot, and I stood near the window for a few minutes.

When a gush of wind blew towards me, I didn't feel the chills. It felt familiar.

Again.

It wasn't until Stella called me that I broke my chain of thoughts and walked into the room.

Kiara was looking at a bookshelf.

It seems old, but it doesn't look as bad as the other stuff left behind here.

"That wasn't funny, Hadley." said Kiara.

"Hahaha, I think it was."

"Hadley!!"

"Okay, I'm sorry Kiara." after saying sorry, I took a glance at the bookshelf.

BOOKS!

If it was the end of the world and I had to choose what particular object I would save, it would be books, food comes next of course.

I am a bookworm who loves reading more than anything else.

Reading makes me feel happy.

I would spend my whole life reading If I can.

I searched for books that I was interested in.

This was a very nice trip, after all.

Then suddenly... Out of nowhere, a certain book behind some history books captured my attention. Why was it there?

This section is for history, and this one doesn't look like the others at all.

When I looked at it, it was covered in black, with gold outlines.

It was thick, with beautiful golden clock designs, and when I looked carefully, it was shining.

It doesn't look like a history book.

It makes me feel that whatever the content is, it is very special to it's owner.

When I started brushing off the dust, I completely forgot about my asthma.

Once a book catches my attention, I won't think of anything else.

Wait.

I flipped it.

"Where is the title?" I said as I kept on looking for it.

There really isn't a title.

'What an unusual book', I thought. When I tried to open it, I thought to myself 'What could this book be all about?'.

I looked at the first page of the book.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGHHHHHH!!",
I screamed.

"HADLEY, WHAT HAPPENED?!", Stella shouted worriedly.

"HADLEY!!" Kiara also shouted.

I dropped on the floor, with the book in my hands.

"W-why can't I read it?"
