We walk out of the school with excitement. Haru's arm is still around me and I'm still overcoming my butterflies. We walked to his house in silence but all I heard was his voice as he rambled on and on about how I should join the swim club. I gotta be honest with you I'm not totally against the idea. When we arrived he opened the door and gave me the grand tour. He even showed me the bathtub he spends hours in. After the tour, we went to the dining area and he cooked up some mackerel. I took one bite and I was in love.
"This is amazing!" I exclaimed, "You have a gift!"
"You should tell that to my friends. They're sick of my mackerel," he states.
After a while of silence and awkwardness, Haru speaks, "So what kind of stuff do you do?" he asks.
I reply, "Well I spend most of my time playing the violin and drawing and I do some sports-"
"Do you swim? For a team or club I mean," he interrupts.
"Do I swim? Yes. For a team or club? No. My dad's been trying to get me to swim all of my life. I've tried softball and volleyball but it's not the same as swimming," I tell him.
"Cute, smart, and a swimmer? Damn you're a premium package!"
(Pls pretend)
"No returns or exchanges!" I exclaim. We crack up at my corny joke until our stomachs hurt. That's when my phone vibrates in my lap. It's my parents.
"Where are you? We've looked for you everywhere? Come back home ASAP!! -Mom" It read.
"Shit," I muttered under my breath.
"What?" Haru asks.
"I forgot to tell my parents where I was! I gotta go!" I say.
"Aw man. Can we hang out tomorrow?"
"Only if I'm not punished."
"At least give me a kiss goodbye," he whined. He stood up and hugged me tighter than before and I hugged him back and then he pulled his head off of my shoulder and kissed me and then he walked me to the door.
I hugged him and whispered, "I'll see you in a bit." I pulled away and winked.
"Wait! I don't have your number." I slipped him a paper with my phone number and I told him to text me. Then I sprinted home.
