Where've you been?!" my mom screamed at me as I walked through the door. I didn't know what to say. Did I really want to tell her that I was over at a swim club alone with a boy and we kissed and then we went to his house and kissed some more and then ate mackerel and made a promise to see each other later? "I went over to Gou-chan's house to do homework and I forgot to check in. Sorry," I say. "Why is your hair damp?" my dad asked. "I went swimming with Gou's swim club after school," I replied. Believe it or not, my lies worked. "Is it okay if my... friend... Haru comes over? We have literature together and there's a big test tomorrow and I want a study partner," I ask. "Sure! If you want she can sleep over if she'd like," my mom said. "Mom, Haru's a guy," I scold. Without hesitation, I ran upstairs and grabbed my phone looking at a glowing screen with a text message "Hey Shannon its Haru," it read. Immediately, my hands started shaking and my heart started racing. "Hey change of plans: Come to my house instead. My parents said you can spend the night if you'd like." I responded. Almost 10 seconds afterwords I receive another text from Haru: "K. On my way!" So I finally get to have a "study" date with a guy who is my new boyfriend and we could take things to the next next next level that we are at in a matter of seconds.
