SEVEN SUN
It never dawned upon me that I'd meet her in an awkward situation.
I was enjoying looking at her from a far with a sense of longing. I'm getting more and more intoxicated with her sent whenever she's near; it fuels my longing . She's all grown up and still as stunning that I couldn't stop myself from approaching her. But it might perplex her. She didn't even know my face or name yet.I chuckled at the memory of minutes ago. Her voice was beautiful when she uttered different kinds or words.
And the little empress even dared to call me an asshole. A word not fit for an empress, but I think she's on point. I may be an asshole sometimes, maybe a little.
I mean she's the only one who could call me that and not getting her head cut off.
It's dawn and the ceremony was nearing. The sun was already setting, but I haven't had a decent sleep at all, worried that something might happen.
I never wanted to call all the leaders in this ceremony but the invitations were already disseminated.
Starlight and I will be enough to conduct it, let alone, some of those who came might even be my enemies in disguise."Your majesty, you haven't slept," James was outside my door. Still guarding no matter how I told him to rest.
"Have yourself prepared, and let your guard up, Starlight might be in danger, it bothers me,"
"Why don't you just go to her?," He asked, annoyed with my decisions.
"I'll go to her at the right time,"
Everyone was focused at the ceremony, gladly, nobody dared to come with evil intentions and I can smell them.
But the most domineering smell was of her, so intoxicating and powerful.
She was wearing red, still the fashion sense of the Cyan empire. I did wear one like it during my parents' death anniversary since the tradition which we were supposed to do is originally an immortal culture. I'm wearing white silk and I look so ancient but it's comfortable to wear. My parents taught me how to dress like the immortals and now I found good reasons behind it.
We were at the mausoleum, with two white tombstones in front and several steps which led to it. The wind was strong while the skies were mourning, as if they knew how I felt. White pieces of fabric were perfectly decorated on the whole area, while the white flags of Straus which bore the symbol of a dragon were magnificently raised on every corner or the place.
Everyone was silent and cautious, some might be afraid, while some are very attentive to anything that could possibly happen. I stood at the altar in front of my parent's tombstones while facing the people; Starlight was sitting at her table while fiddling with the cup of wine that she was served for, her eyes burning holes on my head. Her feelings were a mess, I could feel it deep that it pushes me to give her answers.
"Let the ritual begin," one servant finally announced. "Everyone stand" he said again and everyone complied. Such ceremonies are not my cup of tea, but I respect my parents and my girl's parents as well.
"Son, and goddaughter of the late emperor and empress, come forward,"
I was staring at Starlight and she didn't budge. Sometimes her innocence amuses me, she was completely clueless that we had that connection and of course, a deeper connection that she will eventually know.
I walked towards her and took her hand which caught her by surprise. I slightly pulled her towards the front while disregarding the hundred pairs or eyes that were staring at us. There weren't any sign of discomfort from Starlight and no scent of anxiousness which made me adore her more. She's just so brave, or maybe it's normal to feel no anxiety near your destined partner?
