(In which Wendy wants a meet-cute, but ends up having the exact opposite of an amusing and charming first encounter.)

On the first day of college, Wendy woke up with determination. To meet new friends? To do well in class? To connect with her professors? All nope.

It was to find a boyfriend.

For the past twelve years, she had only focused on her studies. In middle school, when everyone got their first boyfriends or girlfriends, she had been working hard on algebra two, since she had skipped two grades for math. In high school, when everyone lost their virginity, she had been grinding her ass off to get good scores on the SAT, ACT, and Advanced Placement tests. Now that she was in college, she reasoned that it would be a perfect time to relax a bit and have some fun before internships and the stress of her career crept onto her.

"Good morning," Wendy sang as she looked out the dorm's single window. The sun was shining, the sky was clear and blue, and the birds were chirping. Ah, everything was so perfect. She felt confident that she would meet someone cute today. Maybe even snatch their heart. Wendy giggled at the thought.

"You're daydreaming again," Sooyoung grumbled. For a girl who everyone occasionally called Joy, she was the exact opposite of everything the word meant.

"I can't help it." Wendy smiled, picking up the outfit she had chosen. A pink and white plaid dress. Cute picnic and summer vibes. She squealed. She was going to snatch the boy's heart with her adorable powers.

"It's too early for this," Sooyoung rolled her eyes.

Blowing Sooyoung a kiss, Wendy changed into the dress, slipped into her strappy white sandals, and heaved her satchel to her shoulder. Looking in the mirror and posing with a peace sign, she decided that she was ready.

Mission starts now!

Although her first class wasn't far from her dormitory, the campus was a confusing mess of intersecting paths and unclear road signs. Before long, Wendy was helplessly lost. She was also sweating from the sun and her increasing panic. So much for her plan to arrive early at class and strike up a conversation with a cute boy.

Frowning at the building that she was sure she had passed a minute ago, she looked down at her darn GPS, took one step, and crashed into a person. Her hands automatically flew up to steady herself, which happened to be a very hard chest.

"I'm so sorry!" Wendy gasped as she looked up to see her victim. The sight stole away her breath.

She immediately threw her previous thought into the trash because oh she was so glad she was lost. The person she bumped into had got to be the most stunning boy in the world. No joke. So stunning Wendy had to blink twice to make sure the person was real.

"It's okay."

Oh my god, his voice is so deep.

A second passed, and then the boy cleared his throat and looked down. Wendy followed his gaze and realized she was still holding onto his chest.

Cheeks flaming with heat, she jumped back. "I'm so sorry!" she apologized again.

The boy laughed and shook his head. "It's okay."

"I was lost and looking at all the buildings. Which, by the way, looks all the same, so they really should consider innovating the campus. Or at least provide better signs because everything is so confusing," Wendy said. Did she mention before that when she was nervous she had brain farts where her brain would ramble on and on without any filter? She slapped a hand over her mouth before she could continue.
