[2] Prickly Captain

Reader POV

After the exam, there weren't any other people that Captain Nozel wanted in his squad.

Captain Nozel Silva guided us three outside the arena and created a huge silver eagle out of mercury magic.

Shino and I looked at each other slowly and back at our new captain.

"HOLY SHIT! YOUR MAGIC IS SO COOL!!"

Nebra glared at us but said nothing.

"Well, get on. I haven't all day for you two to fuss about."

Captain Nozel got on first and helped all three of us on. I cautiously took his hand and something made me draw my hand back.

"Ouch!"

"You foolish woman!"

I was falling when he caught my hand again, somewhat saving me from falling.

"Sorry," I sheepishly crawled over to Shino who asked me if I was alright.

"She's fine," Captain Nozel said. I took a look at my hand and there was a string on it that wasn't there before.

I looked at it with curiosity and shrugged.

The ride to the Silver Eagles' base was quick. I had to wrap my arms around Shino a couple of times so I wouldn't fall off.

He teased me about it, but I glared at him playfully.

The other members, which looked to be about twenty-two people, were all gathered outside.

The eagle landed and Captain Nozel got off first and helped us down.

Nebra ignored her brother and used her mist magic to get down.

I cautiously accepted his hand, hoping for that weird string to go away. It didn't.

But he didn't seem to notice it- even though he also had a string on his finger.

Maybe I'm the only one who can see it?

"Welcome to the Silver Eagles' base," Captain Nozel said. "When you are here, you will be expected to play your part as the Magic Knights of the Clover Kingdom to the fullest. We have no room for slackers here. Should you fail to meet my expectations, you will know."

Shino and I saluted to him. "Yes, Sir!"

"Hey! That's Lord Shino Adamina!" My new squad members started to crowd Shino. The orange ball of happiness seemed to notice my distress as I was pushed around.

"Hey! Guys, you're bumping into my new friend!" Shino came up to me and frowned to everyone.

"Who's this?" A male with raven hair asked.
