"Have you talked to Jema? About the book that I wrote?" I asked.

"Yeah, I wasn't that impressed." She answered me nonchalantly like she didn't hurt me using her words.

I sighed before getting all the energy to talk back to her boss. "Can I say something?" I asked.

"No."

"I have put all my blood and tears, and sweat to write this and it is incredible and it is a kind of novel that we used to publish."

"Wrong." She said before looking at Deanna's spilled shirt. My original shirt. "And Leah.."

"It's Bea." I corrected her.

She just looked at me. "I do think you order the same coffee as I do just in case you spilled which is in fact pathetic."

"Or impressive." I whispered.

"I'd be impressed if you didn't spilled it in the first place." We are at Bobby's door when she reminded me my role in this scene. "Now remember you are just a prop in here." She pointed the door so I opened it for her.

"Won't say a word." I whispered again.

She cleared her throat before entering.

"Ahh!" Bobby who is an American has been working with Jhoana for 10 years. He is the second Editor-in-chief of the firm and has quite a reputation.. in women. "Our fearless leader and... Bea. Please, do come in." He said in sarcasm.

Shit I forgot to knock.

She looked inside Bobby's office and found a new cabinet. "Oh, what a beautiful breakfront. Is it new?"

He looked at me and then Jhoana before explaining it. "It is English Regency Egyptian revival built in the 1800's but yes, it is new to my office."

"Witty." She commented. "Bobby, I'm letting you go."

I snapped my head towards her with my eyes widened on what just happened. I closed the door that I left opened so that nobody can hear what is happening here.

"Pardon?" Bobby was clearly shocked too.

"I asked you to ask Amy to do The President many times, but you didn't do it. You're fired."

He chuckled in disbelief. "I told you that is impossible, Amy hasn't done an interview in years."

"Well that is interesting because I just got off the phone with her, she just confirmed to me. She's in."

"Excuse me?" He asked like he didn't understood a word that is coming out of her mouth.

Bobby, "Fun Bobby" is getting roasted!

"You didn't even called her didn't you?"

"But.." He said in hesitation.

"I know, I know. Amy can be a little scary to deal with. For you." She walked back towards him. "Now, I'm going to give you two months to find another job and you can tell everybody you resigned, got it?" She walked towards the door and I followed her, still shocked.

"What.. Is he angry?" She asked me while we walk back to her office. So I subtly looked over my shoulder to look at the furious Bobby, walking back and forth.

"He's moving, has crazy eyes. Damn, he's walking towards he.."

"YOU POISONOUS BITCH!" He shouted and followed us to the hallway. All of our colleagues gasped in surprise. "You can't fire me!"

I sat on a chair near me and Jhoana turned around to face him.

"Y-You don't think I see what you are doing here, sandbagging, sabotaging me on this "The President" thing to the board, because you are threatened by me. AND YOU ARE A MONSTER!!"

"Bobby, stop." Jhoana said in a.. threatening way, too.

"Just because you have no semblance of a life outside of this office, you think you can treat all of us like your own personal slaves!" I looked around the room and damn, they are making a scene. All of us are watching Bobby throw words at her.

"You know what, I feel sorry for you!" Bobby continued. "Because you know what you're gonna have on your deathbed, nothing a no one."

Jhoana inhaled a good amount of air before speaking. "Listen carefully Bobby." She looked at him, seriously, not blinking. "I didn't fired you because I feel threatened, no. I fired you because you are lazy, entitled, incompetent and you spend more time cheating on your wife that you do in your office. And if you say another word, Bea here..."

What, what?!

"..Will have you thrown our on you ass, okay." Bobby was about to speak again but she continued. "Another word, and you are going out here with an armed escort, Bea will film it with her camera thingy and she will put it on that internet website, what was it called?"

"Youtube." I answered before I could stopped myself.

"Is that what you want?" Jhoana asked him and he was mum. "Didn't think so. I have work to do." She finished and walked back to her office. I saw all the people pretended like nothing happened and clamored back to their jobs.

"Have the security get the cabinet in his office and put in my conference room."

"Uh.."

"And I'm going to need you and Jema this weekend to help review his files and his drafts."

"This weekend?!" I said in hesitation.

"You have a problem with that?!" She faced me.

"Nah, it's just.. It's my grandmother's 90th birthday and I was gonna go home." She just looked at me and walked back to her room. "It's fine, I'll just cancel it. You're saving me from a weekend of misery anyway." I said.

I was trying to impress my boss y'all.

She closed her door behind her. "Nice talking." I said in sarcasm.

"Alam ko 'ma. Anong magagawa ko? Kelangan nya ako dito. Sabihin mo na lang kay lola, pasensya hindi ako makakapunta..."

I was talking to my mom on the phone explaining that I can't join them this weekend.

"Hala, ma, hindi pwede, nag-gawa na ako ng libro at nabasa na nya. I've work too hard for this and I'm not just going to quit."

I saw in my peripheral that Jhoana is walking towards my office so I changed my words like I was talking to a client. "But we take all of our submissions around here very seriously and we'll call you as soon as we can." I hung up the phone.

"Is that your family." I looked at her. "They already told you to quit?"

I was about to answer when my phone rang again. "Hello... Okay." I said and hung up the phone.

"The higher people wants to see you upstairs immediately."

She groaned in frustration. "Okay, ask Jema to get me after 10 minutes we have a lot of work to do." Then she walked towards the elevator.

"Okedoke."

After 10 minutes, I stood up and walked towards Jema's room when I saw a huge pile of paper on her desk.

"Jema?" I called her and she peaked to her right. "Ms. Maraguinot wants you to get her from the people upstairs."

"Erm.. Bea, can you do it for me? I need to finish this today and I have a long way to go."

"Uh..." I said in hesitation.

"Please? You know their room right?"

"Alright. You owe me two!"

I have no choice. I should get her or Jema and me will be the next one to go.
