A Glorious Treason

#1 - A Puppet

[Lazelus] "Hail to His Highness the second prince of Qallivant Empire"

[Nikolai] "Yes, sit down. Gregory, please tell the maids to bring us refreshments and earl grey for the tea. Is that okay with you, duke?"

[Lazelus] "Yes, Your Highness"

[Nikolai] "Very well then. Oh, and Gregory, please leave us alone and forbid anyone to enter for the time being"

[Gregory] "As you wish Your Highness"

The butler then leave the room quietly and ordering the servants outside not to let anyone inside. The man who has a cold aura emanates from him is the second prince, Nikolai. He has a brown hair and sharp dark green eyes. Anyone who saw his eyes have the same thoughts that they felt the he could see through their soul with that dark green eyes. Opposite from him, it is the Duke of Chevanoire, Lazelus. The gentleman has a silver hair and a sky blue eyes. This two gentlemen has opposite personality and yet the two are like the best of friend from the outside.

[Nikolai] "I guess you are already know why I ask you to come here?"

[Lazelus] "No, Your Highness"

[Nikolai] "Come on, drop the manners! We are in-laws to be right, brother?"

[Lazelus] "I'm afraid I can't, Your Highness. Even though you are my sister fiancé, you are still the second prince of the empire"

[Nikolai] "Well, I can't force you. I ask you to come here because I have a favor to ask"

[Lazelus] "Please speak, Your Highness"

[Nikolai] "Kill him for me"

Nikolai order hit Lazel like a lightning. What he means by him is the official crown prince, first in line to the throne. Nikolai ask Lazel to kill him means he wants the throne. As the laws said if any severe problems happens to the crown prince, then the second prince would be named crown prince almost immediately. But it still up to the emperor to decide.

[Lazelus] "What about His Majesty?"

[Nikolai] "You're asking me, what if the emperor did not named me the crown prince even though he is dead?

[Lazelus] "Yes"

[Nikolai] "Haha.. It is so like you, duke. Very detailed. Clever. I like you."

[Lazelus] "..."

[Nikolai] "I will handle that myself and apparently the Emperor's death is just around the corner, maybe two or three months at best? I wonder. But I don't care for that shit! He says he will crown my brother at the end next months!

He punch the table out of anger but immediately back to his calm and collected self. Then continue on his word while adjusting his cravat.

[Nikolai] "I'll give you the stage at the Founding day's banwuet, It's 5 weeks from now. Do your job nicely. If you failed, then maybe I should change the target to Liezel.

Nikolai's last remark surprise him, but he still able to control his face.

[Lazelus] "Your wish is my command Your Highness. Then I'll excuse myself"

[Nikolai] "Why the hurry? Do you have any prior engagement? Don't you want to have tea with me, brother?"

[Lazelus] "Yes, I do have prior engagement with Lady Karlheinz, Your Highness"

[Nikolai] "Alright then, maybe next time"

[Lazelus] "Yes. Hail to the Second Prince of Qallivant Empire"

Lazelus bow his head and leave the room. Not long after Lazelus left, Gregory enter with a tray of macarons and tea. The young butler then place it on the table nicely.

[Nikolai] "You should see his face, Gregory. It's fascinating to see how he tried so hard not to show how surprise he is when I mention his sister's name"

[Gregory] "Unfortune indeed I couldn't see his expression. But now, It's all according to your plan Your Highness"

[Nikolai] "Yes, I have the most capable man in the empire on my hand like a puppet. I only need to say one name then he would do even the dirtiest work I order him to.

Nikolai drink his tea with a satisfied smile and tell Gregory to leave because he wants to enjoy this moment alone. After all this time he would finally put an end to his brother's life and sit on the throne.
