Ai Yang (Chinese: 杨爱; Korean: 양아이 ; born July 22, 1996), commonly known by the mononym Alana, is a Hong Kong singer, model and actress based in South Korea. She is a member of the K-pop girl group Red Velvet under SM Entertainment. She is known for her appearances on Korean television, notably We Got Married and Roommate. She is also active in the U.S as a model and mainland China for her solo activities and television host.

Born and raised in Hong Kong, Alana was a swimmer for Hong Kong's swimming team. She was ranked sixth in the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics, and won third place at the Asian Junior Badminton Championship in 2011.
After passing a music audition, she moved to Seoul, South Korea in August 2011 to pursue a career in K-pop. In August 1, 2014, after three years of training, Alana debuted as a member of Red Velvet with the digital single "Happiness".
⌃ Early Life
Alanawas born in Kowloon Tong, British Hong Kong on 22 July 1996, and grew up in Sha Tin District, New Territories. Her father, Yang Cheng is a former member of Hong Kong's national football team. Her mother, Zhang Mei is a former artistic gymnast from Shanghai. She is the 1987 world champion on the balance beam and the gold medalist on the vault and floor exercise, as well, and scored five perfect 10s at these championships.
Under the guidance of her parents and other professional coaches, Alana started her swimming training at the age of 8. She went on to win multiple awards as a part of the Hong Kong national swimming team, and she also attended the American International School of Hong Kong.
In 2010, while she was shopping with her friends, Alana was scouted by a representative from SM Entertainment and invited to participate in the auditions in Kowloon, which she passed in January 2011. In March 2011, Alana moved to Seoul, South Korea for her K-pop training.
