A/N: Okay, so just so that everyone knows, Avery is now 27 in this chapter, and Sam is 24.
Avery's Pov (3 years later)
Okay fuck.
I'm doing this. Honestly fucking finally because I've wanted her as my wife from the beginning but hell, fucking finally.
I'm at the jewellery shop, for the fiftieth time this month, picking out rings with Nikolai and we are finally getting close to what I really wanted to get Sam. Seeing Nikolai and Shadow tie the knot a few months ago just encouraged me further on finally taking a step in doing this. I've been pondering over this for a year now. Things have been busy raising Oliver and working at the same time, but marrying her was essential to me, and I was done putting it on hold.
"Okay, so, you'll add the diamonds here right?" Nikolai asked, well chided out since he's been a little annoyed with how slow they were working.
"Yes Sir. Do you want to wait and see it now or you can pick it up tomorrow?" They asked us.
"Yes, tomorrow morning, the first thing I'll be here. Check the size again, I don't want another mistake." I got out since the last few they sent us were a size too big I mean come on, are you fucking kidding?
"Yes ma'am, sorry about that ma'am. Tomorrow." They nodded at us, bowing slightly and we merely acknowledged it, picking up the receipt and walking out.
"Congratulations to both of you!" Now that made us stop in our tracks and turn behind.
"We're fucking gay!" Goddess, how are people so daft? We literally talked about Nikolai's wedding to a dude and how I'm buying a ring for my girlfriend?
"Heaven sake." Nikolai cursed out completely annoyed now making me chuckle.
"Come on, let's head back. You want dinner?" I asked as we neared my car and got in.
"Nah, Shadow wants to go to the new pizza place so just drop me at Burn." He says referring to the street.
"How's married life?" I asked him as we started moving. He sighs happily.
"Great, honestly, like I'm not even being romantic and shit, it's great. You know like, I'm so sure that he's mine. Honestly, it was hard for me to trust the mate bond you guys have. I don't have it. I can't feel it. And sometimes I'm just worried he doesn't feel that much for me as I do for him." Nikolai says softly making me give him a glance.
"But everything he does for me, the person he is, it changes everything. I've been waiting for him for so long Avery, god it's been a century now- more even. He's my beloved. Plus, the sex, now that has increased." He says lastly making me crack up.
"Oh God, I thought you were being all mushy." He chuckled too.
"No, but honestly. It's been my goal to be married, to have that commitment. It's different. I don't know how to explain it, but it's different." He says in thought, full of emotion.
"I'm happy for you, Nik. You deserve this." I say honestly and he smiles.
"You too. I can't wait for your wedding." He grins, turning to me in his seat.
"I haven't proposed yet, so shut up," I say meekly, anxious but really elated.
"But come on, you'll ask and she'll say yes. And boom." Will she? Is she ready to marry me though? I don't know. It worries me a little.
"Please have a tropical wedding!" Nikolai yells out in excitement. I shake my head smiling, hearing him go on and on about the decorations and what we'll wear. I'm letting Sam pick everything, I want her to have a wedding which she'll love.
