Nathan was irritated, to put things lightly. Very, very lightly, but being irritated in their current situation wouldn't help anything. His plan was to stay professional and calm, and hope they got through all this shit quickly. If everyone cooperated, they could speed things along and get going. It shouldn't be too bad, right? They wouldn't do that much, if anything, regarding a punishment, there was no way. Everyone knew what kind of person Natalie was, and Varian was Victor's son, it would be fine. That was what Nathan kept telling himself, anyway. Even as he had his hands folded tightly on top of the table, eyes probably boring holes into the spots he'd been staring at since he sat down.
All of them sat across the table from Hayley and the heads, Nathan between Lake and Varian. Adrian was on one end, next to Charlie, and Victor was at the other. Lake was still holding Lyla, who was cooing even in the quiet and formal setting, lightly tapping her hands on the tabletop. Lake seemed to be shrinking away, to the side of his chair, but it was hard to notice without looking over. Nathan left him be, settling for paying attention to everything else going on.
Hayley had asked for questions, but it didn't seem like anyone had any. Only the babies were making sounds, Lyla at the table and Reed cooing at hearing Hayley talk. Even Adrian was quiet, which was a shock. Nathan couldn't see him staying quiet for long though.
"Let the record show there were no opening questions." Hayley commented with a nod, giving additional and separate nods to people at the ends of the table on her side before focusing on Varian. "As I understand, the situation began when Varian Joll and Charlie Evans somehow got access to a classified room. Can you explain how that happened?"
Varian cleared his throat a little before he inhaled, but the action had him wincing a little, Nathan noticed. He just folded his hands together a little tighter, inhaling calmly.
"There's a girl who works the reception area of the hospital, Susie. I knew she had an attraction to me and exploited it to get information that I knew was probably classified." Varian explained as Hayley looked down at her notes.
"To clarify, you seduced a worker of the hospital to get information that you knew you shouldn't have?" she asked, and Varian took a moment before answering.
"Flirt, ma'am. I didn't do anything more than graze her fingers when she handed Charlie and I our passes."
That, was not something Varian mentioned before. It was one thing to have classified information, but did Varian really need to take advantage of someone's attraction to him to get said classified information? The inhale Nathan had taken earlier came back out as a sigh, and he closed his eyes.
"Scandalous."
Nathan had his eyes closed, but he knew exactly who made the little comment. As expected Adrian didn't stay quiet for long. As soon as the word left his mouth though, Nathan heard an angry little shushing sound from what had to be Charlie.
"Flirt then." Hayley amended. "Did you have an escort to the Nether Ward, or were you allowed to go down by yourself?"
"Myself. I knew the way. Minetta was held in the same room my son's mother was. I traveled that path many times in my past to visit her. I kept hoping Minetta would be in better shape as I led Charlie down."
"Did you know that Natalie was in the room?" Hayley asked, glancing down at her notes before giving Varian an expectant look.
"No. Honestly, I can't say if it'd of changed anything if I had. I might have been less surprised, certainly, but no less likely to confront her."
"And why is that?"
Varian didn't answer immediately, instead looking uncomfortable. Down the length of the table Victor shifted in his chair, and the movement had Reed cooing a little, but the room was quiet, for a moment.
